My self am a Kurd from Turkey.
So I know and I am very much familiar to all of these.
What they did to the Armenians is much more then what Armenians know.Still there are many mass cemeteries around my own village which are not noticed. They are notice by us local people and the Government but they do not want others to see these mass cemeteries. 100’S. 1000’S of people bones…

The worst pain inflicted upon a human being is the pain inflicted by another human being. Denying the act of infliction is the culmination of a collective and conspiring guilt never to be admitted.
To blame the Turks of today for the crimes of the Ottomans of the past is to seek justice in heaven for crimes commited in hell.
I wish the world were a better place but it is not. It is what it is and we are who we are. A barbaric unruly form of life who seeks entertainment from a brutal competition amoungst each other in the form of sports, capitalism and justice unevenly dispensed.
We can confine Japanese without explaination and cage innocents without due process. Dare we recognize the obvious.
What happened in 1915, happened. For the lies of a thousand liars are still but one lie, then the truth of one person becomes the voice of a nation.
And even though the worst personal pain ever inflicted upon myself was inflicted by an Armenian, I know the truth and accept my past. So should every Armenian in this matter of video.
Move forward carrying the candle of truth for it shall light your childrens path to their future. This lie and denial of the past serves no purpose but to teach the children hate and unfulfilled dreams, something we all need desperately less in our lives.
The message here is life in itself not digging up the dead and hoping they come back to a world that never was.

Hi Paul,
I thought this pod was a great way to educate the viewers about this horrible piece in history. However, I wonder why you did not make mention of System of a Down's annual Los Angeles concert to benefit the families of the genocide. With the viewership of Current being young - I thought it would be the perfect tie in.

I believe in all aspects that genocide is dead serious, Even though I am not experienced in this subject, but I do know that I have about 6 Armenia friends, and relatives there. I have received letters from there and stories and diarys' about the genocide. It is hurtful to see something happen so fast, and so dangerously. Every year the world wide has been changing back and forth, not only that it is changing, but it also affects everyday people lives. Like now, America is still in war, and other many things that happens as well. So, even though genocide might me old or even new, it can still happen again. That's why we need people to notice about it sooner or later. Otherwise this will continue and continue until the last man/woman is standing alone.
I have wrote a letter to the president of the United States of America, to the Senator, to anyone of the main branches of government to notice. Also got approx. 254 thoudsand other people to approach the whole situation.
P.S. Excellent Job on this clip. I'm very honor to watch this, and so are my many fellow friends who are also on curren.tv -- we're watching, and we're still sending notices to everyone else who didn't knew about it already.

As an American, I was never informed of these horrific events in school. I am very glad to see that this is being brought to light, however I feel that this clip would benefit greatly with a little context added. Who exactly committed the genocide, and what were their motivations? Where exactly did all of this take place? These things are implied in the clip, but to someone with little to no knowledge of Armenia, it's people, and location, I fear that much of the impact may be lost. Perhaps a map and around 15 seconds of background information would make this piece the powerful motivator for change that it deserves to be.

I am a Canadian..and I am proud of the fact that our parliament acknowledged the genocide but disappointed that the government did not have the political will to stand by it's own elected members because of political expediency. The time has come for the truth to be acknowledged by the entire human race. The truth can not be silenced. It will prevail..no matter how many Millions of dollars the Turkish government spends each year in its attempts at denial.,, no matter how many scholars they threaten or bribe.. the truth shall prevail. It is greater than all of us.. Let us open the channels of communication and let us close this dark page in human and Armenian and Turkish history...so that our children will not have to live in the shadow of such an inhumane act and so it will not be tolerated or repeated in the future. I would like to acknowledge the courageous Turkish scholars and intellectuals who have begun to explore and expose the dark pages of their collective history..thank you for your bravery in the face of danger, even threat of imprisonment as you challenge your government's vow of silence in it's attempt to alter and falsify your history..our history. For the sake of the victims, their decendants and for the sake of our humanity. The truth shall prevail! The awakening has begun... Lest we forget!

I just want to point out that the genocide didnt target the Armenians only; it was against all the Christian population of Anatolia which in addition to Armenians includes the Syriacs, Chaldeans and Assyrians. Im not saying this after some readings or watching documentaries; this is what the senior members of our community witnessed and told us about it. Unfortunately most of them are dying now and we are losing the most valuable evidence against Turkeys lies.
This genocide targeted every thing Christian in Anatolia starting with the Greeks in the west and ending with the Armenians in the east with the help of Kurds. They removed all the Christian population and gave our land to the Turks and Kurds. - 6 years ago

it's one of the best reports on the armenian genocide, i have ever seen.
this is a topic that many don't know much about in the US, except if they are SOAD fans. if you guys know what i mean.
the armenian genocide is as important as the holocaust, because it even helps understand how the genocide of the european jewry was justified.
it was a crime against humanity and therefor it concerns all of us. the armenian genocide should particularly remind us of the danger of the crime of genocide. especially when we consider that a genocide is actually taking place in sudan right now. if we forget about crimes that have taken place in the past, we won't learn any lessons and history will repeat itself.
please give a green light for this clip.

I am an American but it was my Iranian friend Loosineh who told me about the Armeninan genocide and how it is not officially recognized by the U.S. or the government of Turkey. It is not even taught in American schools. We must first recognize horrific historical events before we can know how to keep them from happening again. It's time for the U.S. and Turkey to officially recognize the truth. Current TV and Al Gore would be doing the world great service by airing this program.

Many thanks goes out to Paul Chaderjian and those involved in reporting and bringint to light, this dark blue print of inhumanity.
As a fellow Armenian, we are born into this world with heavy heart's and a dark cloud hanging over our heads, thus, giving us an innate sense of purpose to carry on the memories of relatives and friends. All of whom unknowingly became martyrs and political tools in modern day society. It goes without saying, that we Armenians will never forget, however this has not just been an autrocity for Armenians and Armenians only, this is an issue of inhumanity and affects global society as a whole.

Excellent clip which brought back memorable moments of my pilgrimage to Yerevan for the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide... I was specially encouraged by the presence of Turkish scholars who are openly disputing the official line put forth by Ankara... One cannot rewrite history, as history is much bigger than any nation, governement or power! We have seen the Turkish propaganda crumble on a much faster pace during the last few years... and this will continue until justice is served to all descendants of the first crime against humanity of the 20th century.

This clip should be aired on TV for wider audience. The historical facts about the Armenian Genocide has been negleted for many years. As Turkey is preparing to join the European Union, she needs to learn a lesson from the European club who reconciled their differences and came together to create the Union. (transcript of report:)
This record turnout was the biggest event to date commemorating the Armenian Genocide perpetrated by the Ottoman Turks. With tears in their eyes, prayers in their hearts and flowers in their arms, people from all corners of the world came to honor the memory of victims of the 1915 massacres, deportations and mass killings. Among the masses were the sons and daughters of genocide survivors, the
Republic's President, the Catholicos of All Armenians, dignitaries and representatives from dozens of nations and churches.MADLENE MINASSIAN, repatriate: My grandfather was a survivor of this genocide. Before he passed away a few years ago in the united states, he promised me that I would keep the Armenian nation and the Armenian spirit inside of me. It's very meaningful to be here today
and to honor him and honor his family and honor my people.ALEX SARDAR, repatriate: I'm here to let the Turkish government know and to let my own government know in the United States, that there is a whole new generation that is going to fight for recognition and restitution of what has been lost.
The recognition and restitution at issue being with Turkey's continuous denial that the events between 1915 and 1923 can be called Genocide. Though the number of eyewitnesses continues to dwindle, about 200 survivors still recall the tragic events.
VARAZAD HAROOTUNIAN, 96-year-old survivor -Hundreds of bodies were put on carts, and they were taken to the fields, where they were buried in large trenches.
SHOOSHIG MUGRDCHIAN, 101-year-old survivor - There were so many bodies in the river that the river overflowed.
Preventing cruel and inhumane crimes was one of the topics of a two-day international conference in Yerevan.Scholars, representatives from the United Nations and other countries addressed the issue of Genocide at a conference called "Ultimate Crime, Ultimate Challenge:
DICKRAN KOUYMJIAN, American Scholar: There was general hope at the conference amongst the participants including those from Turkey and Israel that we have reached another stage in this whole process of finding some way of bringing to rest the memory of the lives of those people who died her will be a way to bring to rest he memories of those who died in 1915.
Among those attending the conference were leading Israeli authorities on the Armenian Genocide and the Jewish Holocaust.
ISRAEL CHARNY - Executive Director, Institute on the Holocaust and Genocide, Israel: There is no doubt in my mind that the Israeli community recognizes the Armenian Genocide in a way that approaches the word fully. And I'm glad to bring that message to you along with my shame about our government's position.
TANER AKCAM - Turkish Genocide Scholar: Two people should come together and talk to each other. We should start a new process of story telling. Turks should listen to the story of Armenians and listen to what they went through. So that we can build our future without condemnation of these tragic events of the past.
Anger about the past was expressed at mass rallies in Yerevan. Others celebrated the arts, celebrating the cultural rebirth of a post-soviet nation. Some attending church services, while others held nighttime vigils.
Paul Chaderjian (on camera): The culmination of the week long observances end here at the Dzidzernagapert Memorial, where an eternal flame burns, surrounded by 12 pillars representing the 12 provinces of historic Armenia.
NINA HOVNANIAN- Repatriate: I feel it's Ironic that the Turks chose the month of April because in Armenian, abril means life, and we are alive and kicking.
ARSINEE KHANJIAN, Canadian Actress: I had never imagined that in my lifetime I would see a free and independent Armenia. And here we are today in the official sort of celebration on behalf of the people of Armenia. And we as diasporans from around the world, we can come to a land that we have dreamt about.
