Exotic Pets

snake_plissken
Have you ever visited a monkey picnic? Do you side with Granny's Against PETA? Do you think baby white tigers are cute? This pod looks at the issues of exotic pet ownership.

    • well done to spotlight this issue...no surprise it made it to TV.
while there are strong arguments on both sides as shown, i think i would be very sad if someone took away my pet monkey ..or deer ..or elephant.

    • If they really cared about their animals and wouldn't think that ripping a wild animal from their natural mother and habitat is some great idea. They would respect the fact that wild animals shouldn't be living in cages and diapers. They wouldn't be wearing fur vests (what a joke). A bunch of hypocrites and, to be honest, they seem like idiots. They should go to a shelter and adopt a domestic animal - one of the millions that are euthanized in this country every year. Lame.

    • Yo! That woman said that monkey was equal to her own kid!

Snake! Do another pod in a year or two when that kid runs away from home!

I'm going to go get a monkey now. Great job as always!

    • Wild animals are WILD. They CANNOT be tamed. As Ima posted above, visit BigCatRescue.org. I went to Tampa to visit this place. It is beautiful and the volunteers love and take wonderful care of these abandoned "pets" and circus tigers. But it is very sad that there is a need for places like this. Wild animals are not here to satisfy our emotional or entertainment needs. If you are truly an animal lover, go to a shelter and volunteer your time or adopt a dog, cat or other domestic animal. Leave the wild animals where they belong.

    • nice story. It is simple. Exotic animals do not make good pets. Big Cats need so much room and they crave the chance to hunt. No cage can give them that chance to roam around and to get their own prey.
Conservation means saving habitat for the specie...and not turning it into a pet to satisfy your emotional needs.

    • For a more realistic story about what happens to the majority of these captive exotic animals when life circumstances change for these caretakers (zoning laws change, couples get divorced, financial issues crop up, caretakers die or become physically unable to care for the animals, etc) visit www.junglefriends.org or www.bigcatrescue.org
