When it comes to DIY, most fathers settle for fixing the taps or sticking some shelves up. But one dad has taken his tool kit to another galaxy and crafted his very own life-size R2-D2 costume.
With just days until Star Wars fans can get their hands on a new Motorola Droid phone in honour of the beloved robot, this US-based devotee has opted for a homemade tribute instead.
He’s used skills that would put a props expert to shame and fashioned a flashing, bleeping, motorised droid from what appears to be the family’s rubbish bin.
And despite a bemused reaction from his kids and their pet dog as he whizzes around the back yard, the inventor’s been given a big thumbs-up from fellow Star Wars buffs.
