Christian Bale Goes Ballistic

VSiskos
So Batman portrayer Christian Bale is in the news, and it's not for his acting. Well, maybe it is. In an audio recording that has gone viral and been posted on TMZ and other sites, Mr. Bale goes off like an angry, angry rocket while on the set of "Terminator: Salvation." The target of his anger is evidently the cinematographer on the project, who distracted Bale during a scene. So take a listen and see if you can count how many F-bombs Christian drops. Hint: you'll need to use your toes, too.

    • oh give him a break, I'm sure there have been many MANY instances where actors got really frustrated to a point where they can't take it...and then some minor oopsie brings them over the edge. Yea he shouldn't have been such an ass... but its not that big of a deal

    • The cinematographer should know by now that he is there to TAKE the picture, not BE in the picture. C'mon, buddy, get it together!

    • Its only now i'm coming to hear this.

Next time i'm gonna hold back judgement until all facts are in cause at first i was like whoa! That was some way out line swearing, but at the same time why would anyone walk into the middle of a scene when camera's are rolling? None of it makes sense, you just don't do that.

    • On the other hand, "he isn't a TOTAL worthless dickhead and he doesn't approximate worthless dickheadedness as well as some people do. Like abusive fathers. Or Hitler!" isn't really a defense. He's a prick. No amount of braying about how "there are two sides to every story!" really defends treating people like shit ("maybe that _____ victim deserved it!" is a phrase that always makes me cringe), and being rich and famous doesn't justify bad behavior, even though it certainly will get you out of legal trouble...

and come on. The guy has a track record for this now. Watch his stuff if you have to, but don't try to defend his honor as an upstanding gentleman and role model who justifiably took his anger out on some random "nobody." The way you treat the "nobodies" who wait your tables and drive your taxis says multitudes about your character.

Friendly reminder for those interested in seeing the movie: you can sneak in, pirate it, or watch it when a friend buys it on DVD! ~*the more you know*~

Ah, the first part was in response to jennatar saying that this isn't the same as other stars actually beating people, and my point was: yeah, that's true, but to say that any scandal less scandalicious than certain others is totally fine is setting the bar a little low.

    • The guy cares about what he does, I still have respect for him as an actor and can't wait to see this movie. I'm not gonna make any comments about how he is as a person, because what's portrayed on the media, even emotional tirades, does not give the full picture of who a person is.

    • LET ME BE QUITE CLEAR...iT WAS THE Director of Photography. the party who was speaking on chicago radio was a call in that had just returned from working on a movie. He was there physically when thise tirade took place. the directory of Photography had been harrassing everyone for days...and was quite arrogant. this particular person did not entirely blame Christian.
It was a question of 'how much can one take???" I understand the director was then bannished to his trailer

There are two sides to every story. ALL OF THE TIME!!! christain should have handled it differently, but i guess he just lost it!!!

    • Holy f*cking batshit Christian!

I get f*cking distracted easily too...but I usually blame myself and don't flip out on whatever shiny object or women it is that distracts me....although perhaps I should if the celebrities are doing it?

Wow...can you just imagine him on a golf course?

F*CKING QUIET ON THE TEE!!! ...or I'll shove this f*cking driver so far up your ass you'll be tasting titanium. lol

    • i'm really not fond of domineering pricks venting their fury on the defenseless, but in bale's defense, doing an intense scene can probably make a person very emotionally volatile. when an actor is trying to carefully manipulate their own emotions, a bit of distraction could really fuck with their already unstable emotional state.

    • Honestly? This isn't Russell Crowe hitting a guy in the head with a phone, it isn't Naomi Campbell physically assaulting all of her personal assistants, it isn't Kid Rock throwing punches in the Waffle House, it isn't Alec Baldwin leaving a completely psycho voicemail on his daughter's cell. I don't understand why Christian Bale yelling at an inept cameraman is such big news.

    • Christian bale's anger legitimate, he just should have handled the DP better, he should have walked off set, and then when the director was like hey what are you doing, then you say to the director "your fucking dp doesn't know what the fuck he's doing, he's walking in my scene while were filming." Now all Christian has done is make it look like he's a real shit to work with.

    • Someone who was actually there when this tirade took place came to the defense of christian on Chicago radio.

He said the the director was exactly what christian called him. He was annoying. Laughing at everyone. Just being a miserable person to work with. they kept changing the script everyday and everyone was tense. He did not blame Christian. Bale did what everyone else wanted to do. the director was banished from the take after that!!! so lets' not get down on bale altogether!!!

A music video director. Who can't control his set, apparently. Seriously, in what dimension is anyone permitted to BREATHE during a real take, much less stroll around during the scene and fiddle with the lighting? Not that I actually read AICN, but that blog indicates that the scene being shot was the movie's "emotional core," kind of a one-take deal.

By and large, Bale's major complaint--that the set lacks even an iota of professionalism--rings true to me. And while he drops the F-Bomb a lot (36 times in all!), Bale sort of just sounds like any director worth his salt. And if the movie director himself was really THAT unable to take control of his own set, someone needed to step up.

As I understand it, the recording was made as insurance, just in case Bale follows through on his threat to leave the T4 film project. Why it was leaked, I have no idea, but it really seems like straight-up vindictiveness, leaked just to embarrass Bale. And it's working. I was kind of shocked when Meredith Viera and Matt Lauer actually brought the Today Show crew on camera to reprimand Christian Bale as a united whole. It was kind of a weird stunt to pull.

I could care less about Christian Bale, but I feel really bad for him. How has this become national news? The whole thing is embarrassing and stupid.

      BULLSH_T.

First, your total account activity is only 10 hours old. Seems to me that you are likely part of a PR campaign.

Second, that SAME individual that you described as inept has MANY other credits and has worked on many other films. If he was as you described, he would never get any work in the industry.

Finally, you didn't even name the radio program.

I often regret it, but i dont consider myself a bad person because of it. people who don't mind their own business are scary.

AND after listening to this a second time, it definitely seems like the audio clip was cut up so that it sounds like he said this all at once like a lunatic. thats wrong

you dont know whats going on in his family life. you may read Star magazine every fucking week, but unless your life has been totally void of any family matters up untill this point, you should know that there's at least two sides to every story. you heard a fraction of one.

oh, you're talking about the charges that were later dropped because of Bale's wealth and popularity. I'm talking about the other incident that was privately broken up.

Perhaps you should get your facts straight.

    • You know ... I agree he has a bit of a problem.

Sure method actors get so into character that they often loose themselves in those characters and we like to see them apply their craft.

That doesn't mean that have to be terrible to work with. Most people learn how to control their anger response when they are young. Clearly he has some anger-management issues but Tell me WHY THIS SHOULD BE IMPORTANT news just because he happens to be an actor. I'm sure that there are Coal miners and sandhogs that have gone off ... that doesn't make the news so why should this ?

Oh simply because he happens to work in an industry where they are making recordings makes it news?

    • a high-strung actor? Say it ain't so, joe! What used to be the subject of anecdotes and rumored legends, is now so often stripped and laid bare by media technology for the nitpicky opinions of the general masses.

So Bale has an anger-management problem? Who cares? That's his problem not ours. He's an actor not a world leader who could plunge us into a war.

      samuraidave said it all.

plus if you listen to the entire recording(not this edited version) it becomes obvious that this was not the first time this DP "walked through the scene"

Micheal Phelps smokes pot, Paris Hilton has sex, and Christian Bale yells.... life will continue.

    • Anger-management is a term that Batman star Christian Bale seems to be ignorant of, for the actor recently went berserk on the sets of new film Terminator Salvation after being interrupted in a scene.
