Today is a great day
To Laura and Euna,
From the first day I discovered Current TV and saw Laura's work on Vanguard Journalism, I was absolutely inspired. I dreamed of coming to work for Current one day. I aspired to become the kind of journalist who tries to give a voice to the important yet unacknowledged issues in our world.
The day of the arrest, I was devastated. Like so many others, I kept you both in my heart and wrote to my senators, congressional representatives, members of the Obama administration and even the North Korean UN mission representative. With the help of some friends, we passed around the petition asking for amnesty and your safe return home.
Yesterday, when we heard about the pardon I was overjoyed and cried with relief and happiness. We are all so glad to have you back, safe and sound. The world is much the better for the honorable and vital role you both play in journalism. I look forward to seeing the brilliant things you will show us in the future. But for now, may you and your families enjoy every moment together, happily reunited.
