Not only are older white men seeing jobs disappear, as USA TODAY reported in a recent cover story, but as the crisis of boys' education escalates, so too will young men begin to have even more trouble finding starter jobs. Were the genders reversed, there would be great howls and government programs aplenty ("In this recession, older white males see jobs fade," News, Thursday).

Tragically, however, President Obama and his political base have merely aggravated the situation, cheering on female advancement in education and the workplace while dismissing male troubles. A prime example: Although 82% of the jobs lost in this recession were lost by men, more than 40% of the jobs that Obama and the Democratic Congress created with the stimulus bill pushed through in February are projected to go to women, largely in female-dominated occupations. What happened to fairness and equality?

    • Fair? Oh...I forgot, this is a country where everyone is Entitled to have everything they want. If they don't, then it's someone elses fault. Here's an idea, let's sue someone.
Mean while, rather than going out and trying to get a job that's not available to a white, over 50 guy like me, I think I'll create my own Dream employment and live my passion.
I don't count on the Entitlement goverment for anything. They already took my freedoms. Let this system collapse!

      =)

"If Freedom is outlawed, only Outlaws will have freedom."

Scripturally too, it seems like the best way to go: "The Kindgdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force..."

You're right, we don't have much to lose.

    • nobody leaves any room for the difference in sex anymore, even though we are obviously VERY different. In all of this feminist equality, where is the firmer affirmation and appreciation for women, or men even, who raise children and keep a home, which I find more honorable than many so-called "careers". I also often feel men and women alike are being shamed into this fallacy of "sameness" as equality. We are not equals, in so many respects because we are very different, though easily sharing appreciation and opportunity without unfair competitive sexist imbibing. But I think I would agree with MFT that the feminist agenda certainly hopes to propogate these very kinds of manipulative distortions.

    • I've actually been in the position to interview and hire for some well paying positions in engineering.

The odd thing is that it is rare to ever get female applicants. So if there are some moving up the ranks in the educational system that is a good thing because it's hard enough finding good people right now.

    • First and foremost we are all people and deserve a fair chance according to one's ability.

That being said it can be tough being a male. We have little social support. We suck it up and work hard as that is what is expected. Nobody really cares about us.

Then the ex wife runs off with everything. Finally we die from the stress of it all.

If there really is a good ol boys club it sure hasn't given me a break. I don't expect one either.

Very very well put. Food for thought, absolutely. Thank you very much for that. Enlightening.

you do us men proud showing true and sincere professionalism and objectivity. Yes we do work hard...and yet still face a duplicitous feminist agenda, even if most women generally aren't "organized" themselves. They are aware of what levers politics can create for them. Didn't MotherForTruth also post a story about a woman who placed a bogus fondling charge on a police officer for getting a speeding ticket? She was brazen enough to warn him that she was going to do it. And she did.

You might have to watch your back sooner than you think, even from where you perch.

    • Here’s just a thought. It makes perfect sense to begin a shift to a different group of slaves who are cheaper to feed and house, and are still excited about the opportunity to become slaves.

    • "...the crisis of boys' education escalates..."
Data from the U.S. Department of Education and from several recent university studies show that far from being shy and demoralized, today's girls outshine boys. They get better grades. They have higher educational aspirations. They follow more-rigorous academic programs and participate in advanced-placement classes at higher rates. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, slightly more girls than boys enroll in high-level math and science courses. Girls, allegedly timorous and lacking in confidence, now outnumber boys in student government, in honor societies, on school newspapers, and in debating clubs. Only in sports are boys ahead, and women's groups are targeting the sports gap with a vengeance. Girls read more books. They outperform boys on tests for artistic and musical ability. More girls than boys study abroad. More join the Peace Corps. At the same time, more boys than girls are suspended from school. More are held back and more drop out. Boys are three times as likely to receive a diagnosis of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. More boys than girls are involved in crime, alcohol, and drugs. Girls attempt suicide more often than boys, but it is boys who more often succeed. In 1997, a typical year, 4,483 young people aged five to twenty-four committed suicide: 701 females and 3,782 males.

    • MotherForTruth:

All of these "more girls than boys" statistics are blatently confounded by the fact that public programmes are explicitly targeted at getting more girls to succeed, but almost none are aimed at male success [except perhaps mental health - those projects seem to be rather succesfully encouraging guys to die].

The problem is that it is acceptable to encourage girls to do well, but seen as oppression if guys are pushed to succeed. This needs to change, or else we're all fucked.

What is puzzling me is given all of the statistics by U.S. Department of Education and other government agencies, why did our leader created White House Council on Women and Girls but no Council on Men and Boys?

because Women and Girls have been traditionally underrepresented, meaning the Boys and Men have been occupying the board room seats for a long, long time, and they weren't too concerned about the absence of Women and Girls, at least not until they needed someone to take notes or make coffee.

LOL did I miss it? I'm not sure I remember it... Last time I checked, women were still getting paid less than men for doing the same jobs.

Oh, well, men. Sorry. You'll be alright--white men will anyway: the Good-Ol-Boy system is alive and well.

I'm usually a bit more fair than this myself, but I just cannot muster up feeling of grief and indignation here. :)
