As the recent war between Russia and Georgia shows, the aftershocks of the collapse of the Soviet Union are still being felt today. 15 years ago, trouble started when two parts of Georgia, itself newly independent, tried to break away. War followed and entire communities were uprooted. Today over 200,000 refugees live in political limbo, unable to forget the place they once called home.

This is truly a sad story. I was in Sevastopol, a city near South Ossetia on the Black Sea, when Georgia first started attacking these citizens. It was sad to see them fighting for their lives while shells of the Georgian Government were going off around them. Many of them were forced into underground bunkers with no supplies. When the Georgians finally let the Russians take them out, they started shooting off rounds at the trucks carrying these unprotected people. I heard President Medvedev tell the Russian People that it was their responsibility to take on the refugees. It's sad that America can still support Georgia after the genocide they committed.
