Fourth grade students try to poison student for being too smart

Jealousy among 10 yr olds

The eight-year old girl still can’t believe what happened to her. “They wanted to poison me and wanted me to die,” she said in an interview on television broadcaster RTL’s “Punkt12” show, the paper reported on Wednesday.

Her fourth grade classmates apparently disliked the smart girl because she got the best marks and had already skipped two classes. Two boys and two girls were so jealous they plotted to poison her.

One of the boys mixed what the students thought would be a deadly cocktail of shoe polish, perfume, window and bath cleaner at home. Another boy poured the mix into the girl’s drink bottle during recess the next day at school.

When the eight-year-old came back from her break, she noticed suspicious bubbles in the liquid and took only a small sip.

“I still got a stomach ache,” she told the television show. She was taken to hospital where doctors informed poison experts from the local police unit.

Despite the fact that her four classmates confessed to the poisoning, they can’t be charged with a crime because they are under the age of legal responsibility, Express reported.

“Why do kids do things like that,” the mother of the eight-year old girl asked. “One of the girls was even her friend.”

    • well...I for one blame not the parents, but society as a whole. Children are being introduced to the rat race of "achievement" too early in their short lives. everyone tries to raise little geniuses but in all probability will end up with performance anxious, afraid-of-the-world, evil little brats when they realize they won't be up to the standard imposed by their parents, school and community.

as so eloquently put in a t-shirt: monkey says "chill"

    • it is a sad day when you cannot send your child to school without the fear of shootings, gangs and now poisoning?! i say give the parents back their rights to discipline their child without the fear of "big brother" stepping in. i'm not talking about abusing a child, that is by no means ever acceptable, but a parents right to punish their own child for bad [hurtful/harmful] behavior. if a person, no matter what age they are, commits an act of violence they should be punished for it. if one of those BRATS were mine- i would haul their sorry butt to the police station myself and have them locked up! if they are old enough to plan/commit these heinous crimes then they are old enough to accept the consequences of their actions. the adults in this sad society of ours need to remember to set good examples and be the parents. kids need consistency and rules to follow; break the rules and you pay the consequences. just my .02

    • This is totally disgusting. Note that they were jealous because of her intelligence - we should be encouraging our children to embrace other's intelligence, not just try to get rid of them

    • This reminds me of the child who shot 2 people. Something is happening where kids are thinking of mortal punishments for other people and not caring about anyone that may be affected. I wonder what is going so wrong? Because something is.

    • i never thought that kids would even think of poisoning other kids becuase they are a little more intelligent. its not even that, the kid chooses to learn the material or pays attention. i know janellelynne, it almost makes you speechless lol. some people might say that kids don't know what they're doing but these kids are 10 years old and deserve to get punished. nuff said....

    • They are stupid. They thought they could out smart the smart kid with a cocktail that made her drink bubble? ha. ha. Seriously?

And that's why she is the smart one and they are not.

    • wow. i'm dumbfounded.

basic parenting would ensure a kid would not be
able to fathom such a scheme. it's so simple, really.

the parents of these kids are guilty.

they're up for a planetstupid award.
