Mr. Leno could face disciplinary action from the WGA for writing his monologue.

Leno met with WGA West President Patric Verrone to discuss his decision to write his own monologue. During the meeting Leno was told that writing the monologue constituted a violation of WGA strike rules.

Did the other hosts "write" or just talk? I mean what do they mean by "write"? They all came back on air. If you just made it up in your head would that have been okay, or, is it the preparation that is most important. I am sure they all didn't just go on their shows and not say anything funny, or anything at all.

    • The WGA seems to be trying to make it seem like the late night hosts are nothing but puppets just saying things the writers are coming up with. While i do support the writers, these guys are hosts for a reason, they're talented comedians and I think it's unfair to hold these technicalities about what's written and what isn't over Jay Leno, he's a comedian, he needs to comes up with jokes for the show to go on, if not then the rest of the staff loses their jobs, give him a break.

    • He said it himself, he supports the writers, he is one, but it came down to a few people, keeping a whole lot of people out of work.

    • If the writers strike would end then Leno wouldn't have to write his own monologue. Therefore keeping himself out of trouble.

    • is anyone allowed to think of anything without the approval of the writer's guild? i get what they're after and all that jazz, but there are somethings u just let slide. this in no way effects their negotiations.

    • that ticks me off, he supported them so much now they are complaining to him. this kind of crap will cause support for their cause to drop like a rock.

    • Man, leave Jay alone.
The guy was a standup comedian long before he was a talk show host. In fact, last I heard, he still does standup.
