Arizona's SB1070 is No Good for Anyone

On April 23rd, 2010 the Arizona SB1070 immigration law was placed in effect in Arizona. This means that if an officer believes a person may be an illegal immigrate, they can be stopped and asked to show their papers at any time. Even though I am not Mexican, I still feel this is still harsh treatment.

In my own option, I believe this isn’t right. This is racial profiling. Just because of a persons skin color they have to be worried about being stopped. I thought the United States was a place for people to be free? So why do they feel they can treat them this way?

I understand that the immigrants come to the United States for work and other reason. Many people in the state of Arizona believe the reasons the crime rates have went up are because of the immigrants. Yes, you can say that the rates did go up but how could you say it was because of immigrates that the activities went up. The signing of SB1070 has already caused a lot of controversy and it hasn’t even been a matter of weeks.

I understand that the state of Arizona is concerned about the safety of the people. What about the Mexicans that are there because they are legal, how does this make them feel?

From reading the article that I read it seems like the only people that really wanted the bill to be passed are the law enforcers. The people of the state and area really don't believe it should be. Who would want their neighbors to walk down the street and be questioned about their papers?
