A different direction: art as a vaccine against the politics.

Making art in Italy is something you should feel at fault, affecting the honor of the person !

People look at you in a different way and many young artists are forced to go to other countries to express themselves.

The world of galleries, art institutions, is a circle of politicians and merchants sinister.

As I have stated in other public occasions, the job of an artist in this country is the victim of inadequate awareness and knowledge of those working in this field.

To open an art gallery does not need any specific expertise, any degree and if you do it in the form of cultural association, which is hugely popular for many, you can have a low taxation.

Just follow the course of any other bureaucratic business, is like the grocer, category to which this writer feeds the deepest esteem.

So a shop suddenly becomes a place of art, where youngs who aspire to do this job are literally blackmailed by pseudo bungler patrons.

During the last year I worked in a personal and private project with a group of student of a southern Italy fine arts academy and I verified how is very hard to exhibit own works and show own talent.

I've traveled for months searching for a gallery who wants to exhibit my works giving them just a lot of information “I am a student of a fine art academy, I would like to exhibit in your gallery, that's my works !”

Most of the galleries have proposed a price more expansive, ranging from 500 to 1500 euros per week, plus expenses of organization.

You understand that a talented young artist who is often penniless will never have the opportunity to show their work.

At this point come into play the art critics.

If I'm an artist, in order to have an authoritative review , I must to pay for a critic who writes on commission. In this way I grant visibility to my work !

What seems obvious, the good faith, the cultural integrity , is actually pure exchange of favors, often very expensive , between who wants to exist as artist quoted by a critic and who wants to preserve their privileges.

Public places for art, few or many it's not mine to judge, are the apotheosis of the cultural “fancazzismo” of many assessors, managers and mayors.

If you try to approach one of these places without any political affiliation, you will receive the most varied and immaginative answers.

I would say that an artist should make his carreer looking for political events of the city rather than his heart.

Someone could assert that in the past the relationship between art and politics was strong and tight, that's correct !

How say that this is wrong , but the roles were clearly defined.

Art is the homeopathic vaccine in this country, always has been.

Today, at the best, it is unfortunately a generic drug or a placebo.

It's simple, just show a lot 'of "talent" and everything is solved for the better, the doors will be opened.

Academies, places often true art killer, should finally open the eyes of youngs on what really happens, but I guess this is another story.
