This is quiet shocking.
Tests conducted by health experts showed that nearly all flu strains were resistant to the lead antiviral drug Tamiflu.
Last winter they found 11% of the flu strains were resistant towards Tamiflu, now this season the number rose to a staggering 99%.
Scientists have said that the mutation that makes the flu strain resistance against Tamiflu seems to be a spontaneous reaction. They also said that the mutation might have occurred in Asia, and then it spread to Europe then.
The biggest fear that scientists have is that the Tamiflu resistance could pass onto the H5N1 bird flu, which is taking toll on people around Egypt and Asia. If this Tamiflu resistance mutation does happen then we all are in grave danger.

It's rapidly increasing rate of adaptation makes this strain of influenza truly disturbing as a potential killer.
I hope that experts are still getting sufficient funding to get ahead of this before it sweeps the world. - 3 years ago
