... Or a lame excuse to be a weasel? An interesting article about the science behind addictions, the 'switching seats on the Titanic' that keeps feelings of guilt or pain at bay.

    • it's a chemical imbalance in the brain. A credible source on the subject once told me that the same chemicals are released in a sex or love addict when they engage in love making as are released in a cocaine addict ingesting cocaine.

    • People with sexual addition are "real people" also. You're right. Some people may just be sexually hyper but when a person is doing something that is ruining their lives and they can't stop doing it, like drinking alcohol, is in need of treatment for addition. Anyway the fact that their behavior is ruining their lives is good enough reason to get help regardless of whatever label is put on their problem. By the way sexual addiction is not a symptom if OCD. Look it up in a real medical text on mental illness.

    • some people see this as a cop out BUT it's not
real people who suffer a real addiction is just that an adict
if they can't go a min or fuction normal without sex
and suffer physical or mental pain when they don't have sex, they have a sex addiction.

if your a person who just likes to have sex and that's it,
then your a Nympho not an adcit

Sexual Addiction falls under like people with OCD
they feel like they HAVE to have it or they will go insane.

    • It's a medical condition when the person suffering seeks medical help for that condition.
Although the withdrawals of sex can vary from person to person, I think true love is the cure for it.

    • The American Medical Society states that some mental conditions can cause patients to be sexually out of control. An example of this is Bipolar illness. Often when in the manic phase a person becomes promiscuous along with other out of control urges. Doctors know this from thousands of cases they've seen over the years. I have bipolar illness and during my manic phases when I was single and younger I would go from one girl to another and have sex because I was driven to do so both mentally and physically. When my manic state switched back my behavior changed back to being more normal. Some Medications can help to reverse the symptoms of Bipolar and I have taken them all of my life. So please be cautious about saying that sexual behavior is just a matter of choice because sometimes it isn't. Also there is such a thing as sexual addiction and it's also a real condition which requires help.

    • We operate on habit. Your brain is a habit machine.
One might examine just how much of "you" needs to change.
The notion above, that addictions allow escape, also asks how dumb is dumb?
What goof-ball crap has one tied themselves up with, that needs go?
