How Dare They!

Pope Benedict XVI embarked on his first missionary journey to Africa, and had not yet touched down in Cameroon when headlines flashed around the world screaming; "Pope says condoms won't solve AIDS." Quickly, the pundits and commentators went to work vilifying the Holy Father.

    • OK Catholics, I left you alone for long enough. I sat back and bit my tong with molestigate. I silently chuckle when the man with the most faith rides around in a bullet proof golf cart. Now you want to your followers to stop using condoms? Millions around the world hang on the popes every word. That in itself is a responsibility. Right or wrong, when you have that many people listening and living through your words, it is your duty to guide them into sound and life sustaining decisions. Telling anyone to not use a condom is evil. People want and should live. No matter how hard you try to say that abstinence is the holy or “by the bible” way, humans will have sex. It is Human to do so. Every thing in their body drives them to do that beautiful act. If mankind has invented a technology to make safer this instinctual activity, there is no reasonable reason to condemn it. Stop being archaic and irresponsible Mr. Pope, billions of human lives are at stake.

    • No surprise here. People hate Benedict XVI cause he says everything they don't want to hear......his words are in opposition to the beliefs of a value-free existence.....where right is wrong and good is evil, and evil is good......

Yeah yeah yeah. If it was up to the pope wed still be living in medieval times with no rights and slaughtering people in the name of "God". When will you finally understand that the true purpose of religion is to control the population and make money while doing it?

    • Two thirds of the world's people who have the HIV/Aids virus live in sub-Saharan Africa, where Pope Benedict has come under criticism for saying during a recent visit that condoms are not the solution.

In Angola, few people are willing to talk openly about the virus.

But the government has launched a new Aids awareness campaign, warning of the dangers of unprotected sex.

Al Jazeera's Yvonne Ndege has the story from Luanda.
