Tony Royster, Jr. is amazing now, but even when he was 12 he was playing stuff that made most drummers want to lock themselves in their basement and not come out until they could play half as well as he could.

    What do you call someone who follows musicians around? A drummer. It's a gag as old as the hills, and this pod takes an ancient form of music & looks at it through modern eyes.

    wow, Tony Royster's chops were freakish for any age! check out his inspiration Tony Williams on the Tonight Show... not too many 9 minute performances on Leno these days...

    Very smooth. You don't see too many guys pulling their set together as they're playing without missing a beat. And you DEFINITELY don't hear too many trumpeters who can go one on one with a piano player the way Miles could. What a great range.
