I think the basic idea is to assume that animals talk like... animals might talk if they had the ability to speak. Not like the cat from Sabrina the Teenage Witch or Mister Ed or anything like that, but what you'd expect to come out of the mouth of something that licks their own genitals on a regular basis and poops in a box. Combine it with every single stupid meme/viral/joke in recent memory. Now you've got a joke that appeals to internet nerds who spend too much time on the internet, animal lovers who spend too much time on the internet and probably has a good chance of roping in other people on the side as well.
