you guys clearly can't comprehend the sophistication of Meg White's drumming. Her liberation of the beat from its metronomic shackles is possibly the most subtly revolutionary development in music since Schoenberg eschewed traditional harmony in favor of 12-tone technique. (hey, the critic could be right for all I know, never having really heard the band, but it sounds... dubious)

I agree the Stripes are starting to get tired. Lately, every time I read an interview with Jack, I like him a little less, which definitely effects how I react to their music. He's gotten so uber-cool and artsy that I can't even make myself listen to their new disc, and that last one? Yech. Speaking as a drummer, Meg's "Charlie Watts" style of playing leaves me a with a twitch, but you guys ought to have a look at their Blackpool Lights DVD some time. What they lack in charisma is more than made up for by the energy of their live shows. Jack knows how to strangle a guitar in a way that creates a great sonic blanket, and Meg does her job--even if it isn't in a very flamboyant way.
