Rent a bike in Amsterdam!
Trust me, you're going to want to avoid being one of those tourists getting hit by bicycles are they try to figure out where they're supposed to walk on the streets. There are more bikes than people in Amsterdam, but to avoid being spotted as a tourist with one of those terrible MacBikes, try a place like Bike City, which will hook you up with authentic wheels the Dutchies ride.

To be honest though, for less than the price of a one-week bike rental, you can just as easily go to the area around Grimburgwal and buy a stolen bike off the street. This practice is widely known and done publicly, though obviously still controversial use at your own discretion.
