Current.com's internal launch has been a huge success. But now it's time to look ahead into the future - three weeks into the future at the time of this writing - toward the external beta release. To whet your appetite for what an important mission this will be, here's a little teaser for you.

  • The original movie trailer - Flight to Mars
Here's the original film trailer from 1951 for Flight to Mars. First, we stripped all audio, recut the scenes, and then added new dialogue, sound effects, and music. Big props to Nik in Current's GFX dept. for all the snazy titles and other effects.
  • Here's the other trailer we used
This one was good as it had more extended scenes.
  • I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!! I can't wait for the conclusion!!

  • Wow I no idea Digg has been around since the '60s!
  • I like the "Not everyone's invited" part. It made me laugh out loud.

  • CMS. LOL.
  • In your spare time between making videos could you add the ability to put in paragraph breaks? Thank you.
Oh and I think I've actually seen that movie before.

  • My daughters recognized the voices of both sleeping beauty AND the wicked witch of the west....what a talent roster.
  • I was hoping the CMS reference would be followed by trumpets & fireworks :)

  • One other beta question: is there going to be a tab or a sidebar that list all or many of the topic themes a la Music, Art, News, Humor etc... on the front page? I imagine the larger topics like those and then you can click on it or an arrow next to it and get another drop-down menu of more sub-catagories in that topic. So You have Technology and then you click for dropdown menu and you get Games, Military, Nano, Scientific, Medical, Everyday, etc... Just an idea.

  • Visual Thesaurus does this nicely...
Your words are wise, beclark. I envision something not dissimilar to this flash app for associating related words in a thesaurus. The exploratory nature of the interface lends itself well to the way interests relate to one another.
  • i love it- nicely done!
