Walk Score

Using the Google Maps API, it tells you how high of a "Walk Score" you have at a particular address - meaning how much is avialible, on foot. I get a 89% at home (go mission!), and the Current office gets a 83%. How do you rate?

  • 98% for me, booYeah.

  • 85% for this Russian Hill Rez. My old Cow Hollow place was a better 92%... This is the coolest concept for a mapping website!

  • 86 in little old Berkeley.
  • Nine Two! I thought I'd get a 100. My parent's are totally gonna ground me.

  • what is this walking thing you are speaking of? if i were to try it ... 83 for hermosa beach which is lame as it gave no points for say .... a beach with volleybal nets and a strand specifically made for walking along said beach ... a 95 to sonicpool office .. that is funny

  • 94 for Nob Hill .... who ever said it was a sleepy spot on the hill was wrong

  • 92!!! Woohoo! Noho Arts Distric represent!
  • Potrero Hill = 78. They are obviously not accounting for taco trucks.
  • See, I don't know what I think about this... Infomania's LA office gets a whopping 95, compared to Current SF's 83. But I WAY prefer walking around SOMA - better stores, healthier lunch options, bay views, other pedestrians on the street, less crime, less transsexual prostitutes. However, it is totally right (actually, a little generous) about my house here - walk score of 12.
  • I don't think the system really can do indepth analysis of the choices. It'd can't tell the difference between Starbucks and Philz. Still, it's a handy tool to have.
  • I got an 85 in LA, kind surprising. Plus Jumbos Clown Room is the first bar listed in the area. Can't go wrong with that.
  • 95. North Beach suckers.

  • 95 points in Mission Dolores! I suspect I was robbed of the perfect score by my lack of proximity to Bills Kitchen and Teriyaki.

  • Oakland is better than you
Even my old place in downtown Oakland got a 92. I did live right above a cop bar. But what about the bullet count?

  • Should I trust this?
My current street in SF got a 94, which is only two better than in downtown Oakland? I'm not sure about that, as what counts for "groceries" and "restaurants" varies. But I did love the old place.

  • California vs. NYC: We live in the City here, and my place in SF is in the green, with a score of 80, but by comparison, my old apartment in Brooklyn rocked a 97!
  • Another point of comparison: In the old Home Town of Grand Forks, ND, my house got a walk score of 9. Maybe that's why they hand out learner's permits at age 14...
  • Are they accounting for the bike traffic and cobblestones?
So where I used to live in Amsterdam got only a 66?! This is whack.

  • 98 with a chance of Muni in Duboce Triangle
  • 94 for me in little old Berkeley. Not bad....
  • Mine is 55, not a very good one indeed. Not as bad as Bill Gates' house (6) or event president Bush's ranch in Texas (ZERO 0!!).

  • I got a 54??? A 54 in Silverlake? I have restaurants, cafes, bars, a dog park and a frickin' lake to walk around. What more do they want?
  • Are there cobblestones or bicycles where you live, Josh? Old Dutch ladies hanging on the stoop? Baby strollers?
    khsing
  • No cobblestones. But I do have a homeless guy who likes to get in fights with himself. And hipsters. Lots of hipsters wearing really skinny jeans that I can't wear cause I'm too fat and they'd make me look like an oompa loompa that's trying too hard. Maybe thats the reason for the low score.
  • I'm staying in SilverLake this weekend, Josh. Where should I go for drinks tomorrow night?
  • I like to do the old Red Lion, Cha Cha shuffle. You start at the Red Lion for some Erdingers in the authentic German beer garden then you shuffle across the street to Cha Cha, a semi divey place that smells a little bit like the swimming pool room at a gym- but it's cool because they have two foosball tables and plenty of booths to create your own scene in.

For a classier venue check out the Edendale grill. Nice front and back patios for hanging out but it's also a restaurant with decent food.

Good wine: Dusty's on Sunset. Also great french food.
  • 66 for LA (which i dont agree with but whatever)
aaannndddd....40 for the Bay...but i didnt get points for which is prettier to look at in which case Bay Area wins son!
  • Perhaps I'll see you out then, Super!Josh.
  • 93% for the Current London office, not that you'd know it from the view from our window!

  • I'm not sold on this. I live 2 blocks from Joe Maidenberg and I get a 74 while he gets an 80? Hmph. I think it's broken.
