VCC Producer Marco Franzoni takes us into the underbelly of downtown LA, exposing the gritty stories of addiction and desperation behind the glitz.

Made me cringe, pretty gripping stuff

I thought there was a great advert for Mark Ecko''s brand during the segment on "Tabitha". Look in the background while she talks to the camera in her apartment.............

Amazing. I watched this as part of the training on making a pod. Just wow.
-
The bathroom scene is intense - and the entire pod really drives home the reality of addiction. How did this producer get access to the people featured in this piece? It is really striking that they were so open to talking on camera about dealing and buying and fixing - and how heroin has affected their lives.
-
Oh boy was this hard to watch. I watched some scenes through my fingers which were clamped over my eyeballs. I don't think I've seen anything so well depict such true bits and pieces of this sad, sad situation. Bravo, Marco. Bravo.

This pod is hard to watch, but it is a must see

What make this film interesting is that it is brutally honest, the filmmaker does not pull any punches in the way he presents the film. He does not turn the camera off during these surreal moments when the subject is shooting up in the McDonaldâs bathroom or when the prostitute jokes about getting arrested, these scenes leaves you wondering if it is a joke or is it reality? The filmmaker is incredibly courageous with his art, going the whole nine yards, fully immersing himself in that world. The film begins to feel a bit voyeuristic during the shooting up scenes but the filmmaker does such a great job leading us to this underworld, where you can almost forgive and understand these extremes.
Great Job! My man -
I send this pod to all my frieds...
