VC2 Producer Tania Cuevas gives us backdoor access to hip-hop culture in Brazil. We know the country is beautiful and filled with life, pretty people, and good food, but how did hip-hop become one of the most popular sub-cultures amongst Brazilian youth?
Unlike the United States, hip-hop there continues to embrace the four elements of the artform: djing, graffiti, b-boying, and mcing. They have added their own fresh style and sound putting Brazilian hip-hop on the map.
Besides taking hip-hop to the next level they are using all four elements as a socio-political tool for positive change and education in poor communities labeled "FAVELAS" the slums of Brazil.
