  • Well I am just a little surprised.

    I interpret the online newspaper title to be as a wee bit offensive.

    The paper was highlighted during the visit to a hotel room/apartment during the Dubai city segment.

    The fellow that presented the page from the pirate webzine said the title was, chuckle, ha ha, smile chuckle was "Awesome Lah Malakim" .

    To me that just seems wrong.

    Now I am not from the middle east and generally tolerant of most everything. Not seeking political correctness but that is a parody of a traditional middle eastern greeting widely used and has deep meaning.

    To make light of a traditional cultural greeting is a bit much.

    Wassup is a greeting from Black America, popularized during a halftime show one recent superbowl celebration. Wassup! is embodies a very diffferent feeling, it is intended to be irreverent.

    Lets not make light of and play on words everything. for instance Namaste has been with us for ever, unchanges sanskrit.

    Lets let the traditional remain just a wee bit honored "May Peace be upon You" As-Salamu_Alaykum

    Dubai is such an amazing city. It has recently surpassed Toronto as the home of the world's tallest freestanding structure: the under construction Burj Dubai tower. (Toronto's CN Tower previously held the record.)
