My father drinks alot of coffee every day. He needs it to think at his normal higher state. I think that caffiene is unnecessary, but also desireable. Like Hot Chocolate on a cold day.

Thanks -
Let me start by saying thank you. I drink 4-6 cups of coffee a day and have always wondered why I got headaches when I didn''t have it. For the longest time I thought the headaches where brought on because I wasn''t getting enough sugar. I now know that it''s because of the bloodflow changes that caffeine brings. I have to commend you on going into that machine being clostriphobic*, I''m sure that wasn''t fun.
Thanks again,
Mike

hey thanks mike!
It was a very eye opening experience for sure! I had seen my dad go in for MRIs when he was sick with cancer, but actually being in the machine was weird.
I just felt bad cause I couldn''t keep my eyes open the first time around! It felt like I was in a massage chair in the dark and with the blanket over me, my eyelids felt like lead.
I dont think it helped that we took a red eye the night before so no sleep and no caffeine=drowsy me.
thanks for your comments! -
I just discovered your channel this morning although I had flipped past it before. Angela''s report was the first I saw. This story is one to which I can relate because I consume more than a liter of diet soda daily.

Hi Angela,
Great film - I love the way you''ve used caffeine as a way into brain functioning. Very relevant, very clear... I''m a sucker for the brain, so anything that enlightens is great as far as I''m concerned.

Coffee Is For Psychos!Feeling jittery and on edge when you get too much coffee? There's a reason...and no, it's not 'cause you're nuts. Well, maybe it is. The National Post wrote a great article detaling how caffeine is linked to psychiatric disorders.

This was shot straight off a redeye flight from Los Angeles, so Angela was more than a little tired and in need of caffeine. But this was her 'native state' without the aid of a drug. makes you wonder how the rest of us would cope.

it's clear what happens when Scott Bromley's brain is on caffiene...

I am one of "those" people who, if I don't have a cup of coffee by 11 a.m., I get a massive headache (and sometimes have difficulty forming coherent sentences). Thank goodness for (insert name of random espresso chain here)!

This was the first shoot I went on with Adam Yamaguchi, and it truely was a test. Sleep deprived, without an ounce of caffeine in the body, after a red eye flight, I was grumpy. After shooting all day and getting jacked up on caffeine, I was done! Then our car broke down and we had to hitch a ride back 2 hours with a tow truck to switch out our rental car. A roller coaster of a day, it was also the same day the UCLA bruins lost the NCAA title to the stinkin gators. ergh.

This was very interesting. I don't drink much caffeine, probably 2-3 cups per week, but I'm a naturally energetic person. If I do have coffee...WATCH OUT! Ha ha.

I grew up with the love of sweet and Root Beer was my choice. Root Beer is a naturally decafinated drink so I never got "hooked".
When Coca Cola bought Barqs Root Beer they began adding it to the beverage.
Now any fountain that features Coke products has a line of caffeine choices (plus water)
Why would they do that? -
I need caffeine in the bloodstream!
-
Yes! I am a coffee addict

Mmm... caffeine.

This was really interesting - especially when I've had little sleep at work and drink about 3 Red Bulls to keep me going! I feel like there may be more negative effects from caffeine that weren't mentioned though. For instance, when going on diets, why do most say to stop drinking coffee?

Very interesting!
2 cups with half coffee and half hot choco
Inositol: Some preliminary results of studies on inositol supplements show promising results for people suffering from problems such as bulimia, panic disorder, and bipolar depression. -
I started drinking coffee on a regular basis around age 12. I say on average i drink 3 to 4 cups a day. When I dont have any caffeine I always get headaches. Ive cut down a lot more than I used to drink because I was drinking about a pot and a half a day. Doing that was very unhealthy.

This is a VERY hot topic for me. I am SO anti-energy drink that I actually spend 1 day a week out educating people on the harm that these drinks are actually causing them.
With this post I am referring to the Energy drink market because I know for a fact that a cup or 2 of coffee each day is actually very good for our digestive systems. I choose an organic blend, and I drink on average 1 cup per day.
Now about "Energy Drinks"
We ask ourselves "Why is there and Epidemic of type II diabetes in our children today". Yes type II diabetes used to be called "adult onset" yet today because of all these sugar and caffeine filled, lifeless drinks our children are suffering and even face a real risk of death!
What have we become? We are killing people and our children in the name energy and the mighty dollar.
They take advantage of us (energy drink manufacturers) because they know that we all lack energy because we are all sick and tired from all the JUNK that we put in our bodies on a daily basis.
Start reading the warning labels on the back of your Red Bull!!!
These drinks can and have been responsible for:
1. Heart Disease
2. Diabetes
3. High Blood Pressure
4. Dehydration
5. Heart Palpitations
And MANY other unknown side effects. See we get OUT of our bodies exactly what we put in, and when we put in these junk energy drinks, we are killing our bodies and lets not even get started on the dangers of mixing them with alcohol!
We all need to wake up that is for sure, but there are alternatives. FIND THEM!!!
There is an energy drink that I myself drink on a daily basis that is 100% natural and organic with NO preservatives and only natural sugars and caffeine...nothing artificially added!!! So there are alternatives, you just need to be willing to seek them out and that starts with CARING about what you are consuming!
We really are what we eat!
You can learn more about the natural energy drink that I am talking about at www.MyAMPEnergy.com There ARE alternatives out there from companies that actually care about your overall health.
The energy drink industry is a multi BILLION dollar industry playing off our weakness...and as always we fall right into their trap...
Start reading labels. Read side effects. Read read read...become an educated consumer. NEVER believe the front of the can, because 99% of the time, they are only telling you half the truth JUST to get you to buy!

I love energy drinks and coffee and mainly because of the taste than what it does. But I do like the side effects.
