  • I''m so glad information is slowly leaking out about all the atrocities that are happening in North Korea. Although this 5 minute clip doesn''t go into detail about the secluded country, the words "atrocity" and "horrific" are a bit more believable when there''s an actual person saying them. Thanks for the clip!

  • Great pod Adam. Excellent decision to let him use the board to explain visually. Great pod all the way around. I remember 1st taking a look at "The Hidden Gulag" report from a friend of mine who worked at a think tank in Wash, DC a few years ago. The description of the kwan-li-so work camps was chilling. Pods like this provide an important framework for Current viewers to understand international issues in a more empathetic context - bravo!

  • though there are a handful of North Koreans who've decided to open up and tell their stories to the media, many are struggling with adjusting to life in open democracies like South Korea. The level of adjustment they're having to undertake is huuuge, and it isn't always a success. Some of the experts I'd spoken to while I was approaching this story warned that defectors have difficulty forging relationships with others, finding and keeping work, and getting by on day-to-day tasks that might seem mundane to us.
