I'm both fascinated and disturbed by this pod, partly because its editing reinforces this unhappy stereotype, but also because of the third guy's soundbyte ("Generally, most of the gamer stereotypes are true... about me"). I can't imagine letting yourself willfully become some self-fulfilling prophecy.

Furthermore, that stereotype hardly seems indicative of this culture on the whole. Now that I work professionally in the gaming and tech industries, and now that my friends, colleagues, and competitors all are mainly gamers, I am acutely aware of the fact that there are more "types" of gamer than there are genres of games. The very misconception that gamers are male, pasty, reclusive, and use a lot of mayo, is frankly rather outdated.

This pod seems pretty watered down compared to other gamer documentary shows I've seen.

At the beginning of the pod, "Mogers" tells us he's been gaming for four years. Only four years? I'm no hardcore gamer, and even I've played games for a good twenty years, at least. The same is true of any gamer with a job, marriage, kids, and responsibilities.

It's like the guy who made this pod walked into a community college, looked for the kids wearing trenchcoats, and asked them whether they were into WoW, and they were all like, "sort of".

A coworker watched this pod, and told me I have no sense of humor.
