  • This is the first time I''ve ever responded to anything like this, but feel I have to after hearing about the skeptics who wrote in to your show.

I had an amazing spontaneous experience with Char several years ago. I was having a business lunch with her and another executive, as we were discussing a potential show idea for her at E!
I had never met her before. While we were all looking at our menus, she asked if she could do a reading on me, as there was a strong spirit around me. She asked if there was someone deceased in my family with the letter "e" and then "m". I said yes and she said, "Who''s Moise?" That was my Grandfather. I burst out crying. How could she have known that name? I''ve never discussed him at work! She said he was around me and it was good we were eating at a kosher chinese place - as my grandfather kept kosher and loved chinese food. It went on from there. She''s amazing and I think about her often and wish we could meet again. It was nice to see her on your show. Thanks.

  • I remain VERY skeptical of this woman. I just saw this pod on Current and felt the need to write in to show you a more skeptical point of view. Ruling out the notion that she somehow stalked these telivision hosts around (maybe she did maybe she didn''t), there are many other ways to have reached the conclusions she did. This is what people in the skeptical relm call a "cold reading" I would like to see an unedited version of this tape and some of her other readings for further evaluation. Compare how many questions resulted in a "yes" to how many resulted in a "no". A good reader can usually only get about 30% of her wild guesses right. Combine these with basic reasoning and you could make accurate assertions about anybody, no spirits required.

  • What Mr. Randi Has to Say
I'm not wow-ed in the least. Maybe this lady genuinely believes she's making a connection, but think it all comes down to probability and how much the subjects want that connection. I'm reminded of a pseudo-test James Randi used on a medium.

I'd absolutely love to see a pod on James Randi, and I encourage everyone to look up more of his thoughts and debunking experiments.

  • of course, this may or may not be real, but wasnt it fun?

just the fact that no one can deny or accept this 100%, also, there are only 2 ppl there, not an entire audience.

it was fun, i was wowed :-)

  • Cold Reading, Cold Reading, Cold Reading.

"is it an A or an H"

"Is it B with an R in it or an L, in it? Is it Ben, Benjamin, Benny, Ben, Benny. They called him Benny"

"I think there's someone with an M, that you dont know. Was it Martin or Marvin or Mark"

"Who is E or L or A-L? Is it your girlfriend or someone you dated? Ally? Alecia?"

"The deceased tell me about the living."

All of these except for the last are, classic examples of cold reading, keep throwing enough names and letters around, and you're bound to pick up something. It also helps that Max and Jason keep telling her the answers, and she follows up like she knew it. Also, it makes me wonder about the dead. If Char is recieving messages from the dead, how come they cannot seem to get anything right? Does IQ of the dead drop on the "other side?" If she really were communicating to Max's grandfather don't you think he'd know his own name? She shouldn't have to keep shouting out names. What looks like an amazing psychic reading is clearly a joke. She could have also had prior knowledge of Max and Jason, perhaps they had an off camera chat before filming the pod. I agree with PaintedAura a good place to start learning the tricks of the psychics, and other supernatural claims, is with James Randi. Either visit his webpage at randi.org. Or do a youtube search for James Randi. There is absolutely no validity in the claims of psychics. Their claims do not hold up to testing. Psychics simply do not exist. If you think you are psychic take Randi's million dollar challenge and prove it.
