  • BBC Timeline: Zimbabwe
Interestingly, in 1980, Mugabe enters the picture as the winner of democratic elections.

  • The question you have to ask yourself is that, all the Zimbabweans who have exhiled into various countries around the world, UK, USA, Austrailia, Canada, South Africa etc. After living for so long in these countries are they willing to come back to rebuild a country that is clearly going to take another 10-15 years to bring it up to standards, when they can continue their lives where they are currently living.

It would be interesting to get a survey done. You may get some shocking answers.

  • its incredible to see the effects of people rapidly leaving Zimbabwe first hand. here in my home town of franklin NC there are two family's, that i know of, that have moved hear because of their houses being burned to the ground by the government. i have heard story's from them but i had no idea it was that big of an issue. it was really shocking to see story's just like theirs on TV

  • I see the poverty in american towns and i used to think, "how awful, how can our government expect people to live this way", now after seeing stories such as this, i wonder "how can we be so blind...we may have it bad here, but there is always somewhere worse" I wish i could give my life in order to have all other lives in pain, healed. I wish it worked this way. I wish.......so now I pray.

  • Zimbabwe is Voting again today. If Mugabe wins, rest assured the voting procedure/process has been tampered with in someway.

Good Luck Zimbabwe......I hope today we will see some change that is badly needed to bring Zimbabwe up to date with the rest of the world.

  • beautiful! Very well shot piece, even though there was a load of information, I still felt very connected with the characters and their struggle. Its amazing how much we DONT know about life outside of the US. I hope aiding Zimbabwe doesn't just become a fad like saving Darfur has become, we need to focus on ALL of these issues, ALL of the time !
  • This is a good piece. It is going to be very interesting to see what will happen in the next few days with the election. It's so sad what is happening over there to the people and the country. I beliee also, the inflation rate is way higher now that what it states in the video. Hopefully more people will become aware of what's going on.

  • Things have suddenly gone awfully quiet in Zimbabwe. Must Zimbabwe fall into the brink of chaos and war before mediation steps in? This election is a sham and everyone knows it. The power in Zimbabwe must be taken from Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs before it is too late. The people of Zimbabwe have suffered enough.

Also check out my piece called Saving Us from a Tyrant, embedded on my blog: http://jarontravels.blogspot.com

You can donate to the methodist church to help some of the millions of refugees currently in South Africa.

  • "if there's anything I have to loose, thats my life... but my life is insegnificant. If there's anything I have to gain it is the fufillment of seeing people in Zimbabwe living a normal life. "
That is increadible inspiring. It amazes me how disconected the american society causes people to be from one another. I really hope only good comes to these people.

  • This was very well done. I liked how you got different people, like the white farmer into the mix.

It will be veeeery interesting to see what will be happening in the country in the next couple of months.

Zimbabwe is for sure one of those crazy countries, just like Somalia, Eritrea, Uganda (and so many others that would come to mind in Africa) that we just don't know enough about.

I hope to be able to go there this year.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • What a fantastic piece. Beautifully made and had my attention from start to finish.

I just can't believe there is no help for Zimbabweans, the country is crumbling yet world leaders do nothing.

There is no food, electricity stops working for hours on end, no health care. Mugabe loses the election and remains in power.

    Absolute madness.

  • i thought the idea was to be better than Rhodesia, i've actualy met a Rhodesian on a hash in dubai (some kind of weird jogging club involving drinking) and i was amazed at how comfertably racist he was, and it was very interesting debating his oppinion on zimbabwe becoming rhodesia. seeing farmers like the white african featured and comparing them to others who refer to themselves as " Rhodesians is very interesting, and worse still that they persecute this man for helping maintain their economy.
