Absolutely incredible work. Great storyline, told with perfect pacing. The music and photography were wonderful -- loved the beautiful image of the first lightbulbs in the town square, the joyful faces of residents playing outside.

The tone was respectful (no trace of condescension). It was smart to weave together the voices of the Pignon electric "godfather" with the US volunteer whose technical skills made the system run.

You must have spent a lot of time with this story, interviewing the principals and tracing the development of the electrical generator. The hard work paid off.

I only wish you have more pieces on Current! And maybe a "How to" video on what you did to conceive, execute, and edit your idea.

p.s. It would be interesting to come back in 5 years to see how electricity changes the town and people of Pignon -- and in what ways life stays the same?

The use of the word ''Godfather" in your comment is well placed. The person you are reffering to has made a personal business out of this project.
He is in debt to the poor people of Pignon to the tune of $30,000.00 for services he cannot provide.
There is no Coop, or committee that is empowered to run this project. Projects of this nature in Haiti do not last long. I have visited pignon many times over the years, and between Caleb and Dr. Guy, the donated funds meant to help the community, have been ill spent.

Yeah Danny I agree, it makes me want to work harder and change the world for the better, or at least make a small step in that direction. Hope is the foundation for change, we must not forget that. Beautiful work!

Great story. Takes us from the past, memory of going to school without lights, to a dream ( a man, his dollar,
his dream) to the coming together of a small group to
make that dream a reality. A small step towards change is a wonderful thing.

Insurgent citizens of the world unite! I love participatory publics. Never doubt what passion and determination can accomplish in the face of adversity. This is a beautiful pod.
