Laws and physical obstacles prohibiting skateboards in public spaces roused an ambitious bunch to build their own skate park under a freeway, and embrace the poetry and freedom of their sport.

Thou Shalt Not Skateboard? ( A POEM)"Skateboarders, now listen hard nobody wants a skateboarding park near his or her back yard your sport is suddenly illegal so that even the sight of a skateboarding decal is enough to make some faint, it appears would they feel any better to see you drinking beer? we mustn’t forget that the word community also contains another word – unity don’t criticize young people just for having fun what if instead of skateboarding, they began to run? would that be seen as threatening too? maybe you’d rather put them all in the zoo the joie de vivre of the skateboarding bunch should not be knocked too much don’t think just because they’re in a skateboarding park that they can’t be trusted not to do God knows what after dark any of you who do not trust the teens forget that it was once you decked out in blue jeans did adults then want to send you on your way when you had found something that made you want to stay?" - Janet Bellinger

"Is it a cri-ime?" Skateboarding that is.The most perfect song for anti-skate folks. Skaters everywhere, this should be your anthem. Sade Yall.

I remember when I was in highschool and a little skater groupie (to this day, skaterboys are so damn cute!) and having to run from cops because skating was a "crime". Was it like this everywhere? Or just my 'burb in VA?
-
Is skateboarding at work a crime too?Play this dumb game.

This artwork has been installed in Liverpool, I think it provides an interesting angle of view to to the skate-culture.

The art of skateboarding

It's such a bummer that the government would ban such a great recreational sport. I can understand why they would cap rails that are owned by private companies because when the kids do grinds on stuff like that, it really is destruction of private property but they shouldn't ban the kids from riding around on their boards... that's just horrible.

Enjoy your freedom!
Your free to do what your told!
According to The Constitution:
It is your duty as a citizen, if you feel a law is not in the best interest of the people, to stand up against that which is not right or just.
FIGHT THE POWER! -
This is the exact reason why i skate, you can do whatever you want whenever. But to see All of these new laws popping up all over is absurd. But its really inspiring to see skaters joining together to create something for their own community.
