I gotta admit that I am pretty squeamish and definitely have to close my eyes for parts of this pod, but I still love it! Who knew that there were some many nose jobs in Iran? I certainly didn't!

This "western ideal" is one I've observed in other countries--especially ones in Asia. I remember sitting in the back of a taxi in Shanghai, seeing an advertisement on the seatback for eye/eyelid surgery to make an individual's eyes look bigger and rounder. The ad specifically used the phrase "western eyes" to try to lure customers.

I thought the pod was amazing and I found this article online today that made me think of it and gave some more insight into the situation.

I really like this piece. There is great movement and I love the real moments with the women talking. You really get a sense of Western influence. The piece really just speaks for itself.

I have seen the same ads from advertising the same eyelid surgery in Asia to give the people an eyelid clef, however, what is also popular is skin bleaching which removes the yellow pigment from the skin to make it whiter.

Inaspettatamente, l'ossessione per la chirurgia plastica è radicata in Iran. Le donne di una famiglia si sono sottoposte all'operazione quasi come fosse una tradizione tramandata da madre a figlia. Video interessante.

that was definitely interesting. i didnt know islam permitted body modification's unless it was a health concern. but i do think that it takes away heritage.

I thought the women in the pod looked great before. There was nothing wrong with the men either. No surgery was needed - they were fine they way they were.

we can do what ever they want. It's not the same but like, non gay people telling gay people they can't get married... It's not the same but similar to people wanting to tell Woman they can't have an abortion... what about people going over the top with altering there bodies with Tattoos and and piercing.

People are free to do that they want, but I bet the young girl is going to look just fine at 60 where the Tattoo Culture is going to start looking haggard at 45 and like even worst at 50 and horrid and totally regretful at 60...

I felt that the points of the interviewer were short sited. and by the way, she had a big nose that was beautiful I thought. the younger girl had a Jimmy Duranty honker. watching her doc I felt like she was challenging people in almost a rude manor. The people were trying to justify there actions.

My girlfriend is so agents breast implants, But the kicker is she has great breast! Just like the woman doing the segment. her nose was beautiful...

some times we liberals can be as blind to others as conservatives can be. because we feel our cause is founded on tangable thoughts and feelings. dosen't mean our cause is what should be. People are free to do what they want... I like that freedom, do you?

What an unfortunate trend. Isn't this kind of modification against Islamic belief? No? Anesthesia? C'mon people leave your noses alone. The girl in the pod didn't need a nose job, but luckily the doctor did a fantastic job.

an unfortunate trend is how some women are treated in the culture she lives in. I feel we should give women in these cultures the freedom to do as they please... Then woman doing the Pod didn't need to impose her will and beliefs on the woman getting the nose Job as the culture and she lives in has a history of repressing women. She's being a hypocrite.. I'm sure she's for free speech and woman's rights, but is it is evident that it's as long as they don't conflict with her personal views regarding her big nose and her not wanting to get a nose job herself...

I know I don't like it when people tell me what I can and can't do as I'm sure you feel the same way. Lets keep our "Noses" out of her personal business..

DAMMIT! Each person on this clip is beautiful. I mean the women are extremely physically beautiful. What the hell has this world come to that they think they need this surgery. Not only that but their father supports and encourages it. I am losing faith in people here.
