"Crazed: The Bellydance" is a mini documentary about the traditions and modern expressions of belly dancing. Produced by Jordan Anderson, Jelani Bandele and Cielito Pascual, of Elle Empire Entertainment, it shows the diversity
of those participating in the current wave of interest, and attempts to banish some of the mythology surrounding this traditional folk dance.

Interesting POD. I don''t like the dancers from hands of Kali however. It seems very disrespectful to the culture of bellydancing. They start the video talking about how thier are misconceptions about bellydancing but in the end when these dancers associate themselves with a ''fetish'' movement as the hands of kali say they do than I think that propogates the stereotype. That said they did look very entertaining and I would most likely atend the performance.

Thier are bellydancing classes a the art center where I volunteer. I am fascinated by the culture and indeed the beauty of the dances. I am glad that this POD was made/

Wow! Loved the video, hearing women talk about how they infused their own individuality into this art form. I've been belly-dancing for 6 years. I love it because it helps me appreciate the sensual aspect of my nature. This is something women are made to feel ashamed of in the dominant Judeo/Christian culture.
I actually started belly dancing because, after directing the evening news for NBC for three years, I had a stroke.
The cardiologists I went to basically told me that men have heart problems because they are stressed from their important work.
Women have heart problems because they are too emotional. I am actually not a very emotional person--except when I would go to see these sexist heart doctors! I quit going, treated my heart infection with colloidal silver and took belly dancing to recover from the paralysis in my right side.
I'm totally recovered-no thanks to the patriarchal system we live under!
