My first encounter of the smart car was on this trip to Bremen. I couldnt help but laugh everytime I saw one on the street, and my one birthday wish was to test drive a Smart. So on my birthday, we went to check out the car, and decided to shoot a story about it. Its a staple in the european market so my german friends found it amusing that I would crack up everytime I saw one! A reformed SUV lover, I wasnt used to seeing such a tiny little nugget of a car and I felt like I wanted to run it over with my Toyota 4 Runner. Leno recently made a joke the other night about the Smart car coming to America in one of his segments. "Lets see how smart you are you get run over by an SUV" ha!

NEW SMART and OLD SMARTSpotted in Mallorca, the new smart is a little longer. Can you tell which one has a different body? I think the red one is the new model. For the US Model, Daimler Chysler HAD to make it the body bigger to fit US standards. -
It's not the smallest car ever made and mass produced - the Topolino was smaller - 126.6 inches long and 50.2 inches wide. The Smart is a Swiss invention, by the way.
