It's safe to say that Owen Thornton has found his niche. The 40 year old Thornton has made a name for himself selling vintage camo clothes. In particular his pieces represent scenes of intense violence. Colorful design names like U.S. Frogskin and "Penis Pattern" Tigerstripe and a passion for his craft has made this ex-punk rocker quite the success.

Yeah, I'm a bigger fan of the military-look, but not so much their textiles, but that porn print was actually nice from afar.

This is usally a good resource for emerging trends, even though they may be recycled.

  • Uh, Japan did not invent Tigerstripes in 1942. And BTW patterns are ill-defined depending on the colours they are printed in[e.g. silver tiger, golden tiger, etc.]. Oh, and MarPat is not US Army pattern, but rather Marines. Other than that, though, great piece!

  • Great insight in this pod! Owen is a great character to follow because he's so knowledgeable and his passion for camo is infectious. He offers a great history of camo, not only of its utilitarian uses but of its aesthetic qualities as well. I guess I never realized how many different patterns of camouflage were out there. There's not a whole lot of conflict in this pod, but there's such good info that's presented that it doesn't really matter.
