  • I suppose it''s ok for these people to believe in their god or whatever but it seems as though they were just brainwashing the kids at the camp. Also, why would you break another nation''s laws?
  • From what I understand the underground "house church" movement has been exploding in China for the last couple of decades. A primer to understand what it is and possibly where it''s headed is David Aikman''s comprehensive book "Jesus in Beijing."
  • Please click in on our clips re China and Tibet.
  • I believe that it is completely amazing what you are doing. Please continue to hunger and thirst after God and most of all spread His Gospel!!!!
  • "Because of security issues, we cant go with them."
"They tried to look like tourists and sometimes spoke using code words."
The idea of spreading Christianity in China is great, but judging China in the wrong way is just ridiculous.
  • Good video, and great work.
  • Just a few thoughts on the video ... really good story in that it naturally lends itself to a photojournalistic feel. As a producer, I think it worked in regards to your selections for b-roll and sound bites. Just wished there was a way to get better p/u when they were talking / praying together on the hill top and then also for when the students were being "man on the street" interviewed by Pastor Kim in China. As a Christian myself, I thnk it''s an important story to be documented and I''m very glad you did.

The 2008 Beijing Olympics is being seen by some as a symbol of a new modern China. Though missionaries are still banned in the country, missionaries from around the world are looking to travel to China during the games, and it remains to be seen how the Chinese government will deal with them.

  • Some interesting background to this story: Angela and I had originally planned to travel WITH this group to China so that we could document their journey first hand. But shortly before their trip, they decided that it was too much of a risk for cameras to be following them on such a clandestine mission--it would call too much attention to their group. So we went with plan B and gave them a small "tourist" camera so they could bring back footage for this piece.

    - I agree that it seems like the kids are being brainwashed, but if I was asked why it seems like that, I would have trouble explaining why that is true. This is what I think though: The kids are too young to discriminate about what they accept as true or false. I guess, as a result, they accept everything as true. Is it because they really don't understand what they are believing, but regardless, they accept that "God is great!"? Could you say that at a very young age, they dont really have a choice between what they believe is true or false? Maybe that's why it seems like brainwashing...Anyway, I'm like a year late, but those are my thoughts

  • What a joke, just for the publicity. I was in China for Sunday mass, The church even offers mass for Foreigners, all in English.

A true christian shall not be afraid of confrontation. Where is your faith?
