  • It must be really hard to deal with their problems...that's really sad.

  • Is it a first round KO, or a full ten rounds?

  • What I found to be really interesting about this piece is the concept of turning pore into real life. It really has me questioning porn, and what role it plays in our intimate lives.
Sexuality is a very fluid thing, but ultimately, it's all about how to find balance. Unlike a drunk addiction which can be eliminated, sexuality is something that is biological, but requires some type of equilibrium...

  • Unfortunately... we live in a country where "sex" has been & is labeled as a something forbidden with the exception of / for "reproduction" purposes. There has been & still, serious scare tactics associated with "sex". Schools teach sex ed classes for the purpose of young students being educated about the matter, in hopes that they will make safer choices. Then on the other hand you have those who are against sex education, fearing that sex ed will encourage students to go out & have sex... But lets not forget, that which is forbidden will most times be explored upon. Its something thats embedded in us all, to want to do that which we have been told not to do...
So I think that some, not all sex addiction cases could very possibly be due to the social stigma that sex is bad combined with a person simply having a serious appetite for sex. With something that was stitched in our very fabric, can it really be called an addiction... Each individual has its own unique appetite... Not every one likes sex as much as the next... So it could simply be an issue of equilibrium (as spoken by Spiral9) per individual... I'm sure there are plenty of people with large sexual appetites that clearly don't diagnose themselves as addicts....

  • this was super interesting; I feel like in our culture nowadays, it's really hard to distinguish a sex 'addiction' from just being labeled a slut or simply promiscuous sense sex blurs almost every separation.

  • too many consider people that have sex a lot as sluts, even if the person does have a sexual addiction. its like, if you know someones an alcoholic you know that they drink and you accept that they have a problem and need help, but i don't think society has recognized sexual addiction as a true issue, people think "oh well they shouldn't sleep around if they don't want to be called a slut" but its a deeper problem.

  • Biggest problem we have in the UK is this is not seen or recognised as an actual illness or problem which it clearly is.

I have admited to myself I have a problem but unfortunatley there does not seem to be anywhere to go from here. There just doesn not seem to be any help avaliable. It is not something I could discuss with my GP and most help groups that talk about sexual health are aimed at youths. Yes there are councellors that would listen to this problem but they dont have the knowledge to advise or help, all they can do is listen which sometimes just is not enough.

  • As a recovering cocaine addict, I relate to that hollow feeling after the "buzz" and the constant need to replenish it as a lifelong disease that I can't deal with alone. 12 step groups of peers will always be helpful for me.

  • interesting, insightful and thought provoking. an issue that needs more interesting coverage like this.

  • well produced piece. the fact that we never saw the addicts face 1)reinforces the notion that shame is often attached to the vice and 2) doesn't take away from getting to know the character...again, well executed.
