Believe it or not I have seen worse, like in Africa 1987... however, most of that had one natural cause - lack of water! What do you think is the cause of this one "case"??? My own conclusion is men being apart and dishonoring to God!

Many years ago before leaving Central America at the age of 3 my family and I lived like that. I guess having memories of that life style keeps me grounded and humble.

This is a great documentary. But I wonder: why use dollars as the standard for well-being? The fact that coffee in the U.S. costs more than daily earnings in that neighborhood only shows that the U.S. dollar isn''t useful as a yardstick or a basis for comparison.

am sorry to say this, but the human being has failured. We have to accept that if we want to build a new ways for this world. See around, read history, theories, nothing worked. So we have to find a better way to rebuild this world in permanent war and hateness. The ''reason'' fuck up everything, we belief in "great theories" since XVI but nothing worked and we have got lost. Now we do not know wich way to take it and even worst we lost our real goals as a Humans and maybe our identities

I doubt religion has much to do with this. The thing is not everyone can live like Americans. It''s the sad truth, but also it is the job of Americans to contribute what they have to people in need.

An article from 2002 about the UN report that priced poverty at $2 a day or less.

Makes me feel guilty for the $1,000 pizza I had for lunch.

Why can't we contribute just a few million dollars to countries like those? It could make all the difference! If you, say, don't buy a $1 soda for a week, that's enough to feed a family there for 3 days!

Hardships like this kind of make my problems seem trivial.
