Untying the knotA new Child Marriage Prohibition Act has just replaced the Child Marriage Restraint Act of 1929. But legal experts claim that it is flawed, reports Saheli Mitra . . . Increasing Awareness through FilmBorn Into Brothels, an amazing documentary, as well as the fictional documentary-style feature, Salaam Bombay are among the most moving films I have seen on this topic. Each time I visit Pakistan, my heart breaks at the increasing number of young boys and girls roaming the streets, orphaned and at the hands of whatever and whoever wishes to exploit them. It is important that here at Current, we continue to promote filmmakers' efforts to capture such atrocities. There is indeed no greater crime than that against a child, but sadly, it is a crime which goes unnoticed for lack of a voice - I am really thankful to see filmmakers giving these children a voice.
