VC2 producer Allen Keating-Moore wanted to show another side to religion, and specifically, Christianity, in America. According to Allen, "The media often presents Christianity in a very particular way, and my goal was to make a piece about a Christian community that does things in ways many people may not have seen represented in the media."

I saw this while my husband and I were talking nothing other than, religion. We stopped mid conversation. Within minutes the tears started flowing.
Since the moment I turned Current TV on I knew it was for a reason. For the last two years I couldn''t describe what I was going through spiritually. I am a Christian I just believe that the World is changing in a crazy way that Christianity needs to think out the box.
To keep this email "currentish," and to the point. You all call attention to something that many are afraid to touch. And I think that your spin needs much more attention!
May Peace And Blessings be among your church, and the producer of this pod, and anyone touched by it.!

Young adults aren't sticking with churchDoes church need to be revamped?

It doesn't matter what church looks like, but to be considered Christian, it has to preach the Christian Bible as truth. Evidently, Solomon's Porch does not, so I don't think it is fair to consider them an example of a Christian community. I wish I could ask the hippie girl in the video what she thinks Jesus would have focused on if he had been incarnated in the first century. By her line of reasoning, it would have been Roman Imperialism, slavery, poverty, and racism. He didn't address any of these issues, so why would he address issues like she mentioned today? And why did she only mention liberal political issues?

The above comment is completely off base. If you've studied the New Testament at all you can see that "Roman Imperialism, slavery, poverty, and racism" were enormously important aspects of Jesus' ministry.
Jesus on a Christ-like reaction to poverty, (Matthew 5:42) Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you." (there are countless stories of the need to respond to those in economic distress throughout the new testament)
Jesus on racism: Luke 10:25-37 is the story of the good samaritan in which Jesus preaches against the mistreatment of the Samaritan people. Jesus continually defied cultural expectations by reaching out to people who were shunned by society.
Jesus on slavery: James 5 speaks of the importance of treating workers fairly, and the evil of mistreating those who work for you.
Jesus' ministry was devoted to giving a voice to the disadvantaged, because he saw the value and worth in the people who were looked down upon. Through dealing with the issues of the day he was able to communicate his message to the people in a relevant way.
Racism, the environment, poverty, and globalization are not liberal political issues- they are the reality of our world today. If we are looking to Christ as a model of how to live out own lives- we should not overlook the pain of the world but instead live in it.
James 1:26-27- If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that GOd our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
