Shot in Ghana, "Damned by Debt Relief" challenges the Live 8/G8 debt relief jamboree. Eloquent and angry Ghanaians cut through the spin and explain; debt relief provided no new money and draconian conditions applied. Damned by donor diktat, Ghanaians are not impressed by the West's supposed largesse.

Yet another skewed version of the real story, a film that is a mechanism to find to catapult a reporters career by searching out controversial subjects.
boo hisss.
Debt Relief and its effects is an ongoing process. AIDS and death by mosquito are the current successful targets, the complete transformation of africa is a much longer road and requires people to help and not hinder. Get a Life. -
@crossmag
Who are you to announce the "targets" for Africa? To claim to speak on behalf of Africans about what priorities they should have? You prove the exact point the film is trying to make: that other people claim to know Africa''s problems better than Africans themselves. Like the interviewee in the bar, we should all find such pretensions repugnent.
Great film. -
very truthful and strong words that speak the truth of the problems that are created by the people that think their making a difference when there not.

it's sad to see what really happens with all the money that events/programs like live8 tribute. i don't think that the government is allocating the funds very well. while i'm sure the ghanaians are grateful that they have toilets, the fact remains that there were only about 16 for a village of over 100 some people. these fund allocations are only tackling the smaller problems that these people are facing.
