The reactable is a collaborative electronic music instrument with a tabletop tangible multi-touch interface, a.k.a a sick music instrument that you thought only existed in the future.

I also wanted to forward this amazing invention to my friends, and actually my music teacher(I''m a music tech major to be), so I was somewhat disappointed to find it''s only available to view the way I did, on tv. Thanks for the link.
-

Wired ArticleHere's a Wired article about the ReacTable. Has some footage of it in use at a Bjork concert.

Not playing an instrument is one thing I really regret - the other is not being fluent in another language. What do you regret?

The reactable is awesome. It is a great way to visualize sound. It would be great in one of those discovery science museums.
-
I saw this instrument in action at Bjork's awesome live performance at the ACL 2007 music fest in Austin, TX. It rocked!

Hey! I was at ACL too... and this instrument is so cool!!

Simply amazing. A great way to initiate people into learning sound synthesis, and such an intuitive instrument for a creative musician. ReacTable is a leap forward for engaging music design. If it is ever made commercially available, it would surely be one of the coolest pieces of kit in any musician's arsenal. I want one!

The reactable is coooool!! and i heart bjork!
-
Tight- I wish I could play around with one of these! I love the idea of a 'collective instrument' and 'making creativity more democratic'...

It is most awesome. I do love it. I just wanted to stare at it for hours.....in awe.
Cool pod. -
I want one of these so bad! I saw it at the last Bjork show that came through town and it blew my mind. What a beautiful and intuitive way to create music.

Fantastic stuff...
I kept thinking of a Risk game being played in an interface like that... Would be awesome! -
this would go well with a Drum Buddy, by Mr. Quintron - a nice analogue drum machine, made of PVC pipe and a COFFEE CAN.
interface, yes; musical instrument, well, mmm, ok, whatever.-

Good news: this technology will probably become mainstream.
Bad news: those pioneers will probably not be remembered as the ones that invented it (using Ubuntu Linux, no less). -
This is a lot like Microsoft's upcoming Surface.
Very Cool. -
i want one! this would totally turn the music industry upside down. bc then EVERYONE would be able to make decent music (if they can afford the reactable). would we still need to listen to other people's music? if i could make my own (im musically challenged), i dont think i would listen to anyone elses.

This is a great visual manifestation of electronic music. Music is adapting to new technologies. Now, if only record labels could learn to adapt to this new technology called the Internet...
-
I remember see Bjork with this at glasto 07, me and my brother were blown away.
