If you really want to know what's going on in the world in depth, you're probably better off reading The Los Angeles Times, or The Christian Science Monitor, or The New Yorker, or USA Today, than watching TV shows because you can cram more words into an article than into a news segment, plus the brain stimulation of reading could possibly retard the day when your grandchildren put you in a rest home and start signing your checks in your name. However, there is plenty that TV can convey that print can't, and those are the areas that we try to emphasize in the pieces that we make for Vanguard. A lot of this has to do with what it feels like to be somewhere, or the juxtaposition of bites and experiences. But in this particular story, it's much simpler: Look at all those cargo containers. Ten thousand words in The New York Times wouldn't convey a few minutes of Angela among the boxes. If you want a physical measure of how we've largely given up making who categories of the stuff that we consume, have a look. Here, a picture truly is worth a thousand or more words.
