In parts of Africa, the demand for meat from wild animals has led to a bushmeat crisis - the over-hunting of animals for food.

The bushmeat trade is outrageous. I live in Nigeria and you can find "bushmeat" on the menu's of the local bars (bush bars). It is never defined as to the type of animal and it varies from day to day depending on what is brought in from the hunters.
There is plenty of fish, chicken, and goat to satisfy any craving for meat, yet the bush is being devasted for the sake of a cultural history. Apes and monkeys in particular are targets.
