Sonnie Trotter profileThis guy's amazing... here are some other highlights and info about the Canadian.
-
Sonnie trainingIt seems like there's some intense training needed for this, lots of upper body strength. Personally, I'd rather be surfing...

Intense! Nice Pod, brings back great memories. Reminds me of my younger days of climbing, you know, before marriage. Ah, great times at short mountain, foster falls, and the T-wall.
-
amazing expose on the difficulty, intensity and focus needed for this type of climb. this is how life was meant to be experienced: on the edge of your own capabilities for the sake, not of a greater good, but advancement in your physical enlightenment.

As a climber myself I'm glad to see the promotion of our sport. Thanks for getting the word around.

Really amazing piece here. I would love to speak to you to find out where / how you were rigged up to film the climbing parts.
Also, good footage of the climbers' hands.
Excellent work. -
If you like this you should watch the WHOLE video! Go check out "First Ascent" by sender films. It includes a lot of other first ascent adventures, including alpine, trad, and deep water soloing at amazing destinations all over the world. Sender Films latest masterpiece: King Lines is also a huge thrill to watch! Yay rock climbing!

sweet guys. you told the story well and had some hard ass climbers.

I first saw this as part of College_Current's outreach reel. They just showed the part about Didier so I thought the whole piece was about him. I love this pod -- so many things are working so nicely here, including of course the amazing cinematography, the music, the editing, and the nice personal touch with an insight into how Didier lives this lifestyle. I found his French accent hard to understand at times, and the choice not to put in subtitles (even though he's speaking English, sometimes people do that for ease of understanding) worked for me. I could get the gist of Didier's words without understanding every one. I have done a bit of crack climbing and I understand how exhiliarating it can be -- I can't wait to see his whole film!

It's always inspiring to witness the relentless pursuit of a passion, full of blood sweat and tears, for no one's satisfaction but your own. It's also interesting to see the dichotomous lifestyles of these climbers and what they sacrifice for their sport
