Mark Rinehart was looking for a topic that would be visually engaging. He found it with BASE jumping: participants make parachute-assisted leaps from buildings, antennas, span bridges, and cliffs. And, in some cases, they take cameras with them.

  • Rinehart's "Jumper" is the gold-standard for short-subject digital documentary filmmaking. There aren't enough adjectives to describe the emotions I get when watching "Jumper." Frankly, I'm jealous of his skills and abilities. My hat's off to you.
  • This was a extremely entertaining and informing POD. It truly sets the standard for POD quality.
  • Awesome POD. The music works perfectly with the images.
  • Brevity would help here.

  • Rinehart, you are a quality, this is awesome stuff. I need to know how you light your subjects? How many lights are you using for an interview and what strength are they? I like the mood you create..

  • I saw this on the channel. It was well done and I am glad to see it hit the TV! Kudos to you!
  • the "Jumper" pod was my first experience of CurrentTV. I must say it was impressive and the final gainer takeoff was the best shot basejump I've seen anywhere.

  • Engaging. Very well done. Suprised it only has 356 views as of this posting with 39 green lights. Clearly the revenue is not on this side of the equation the way you have it set up. Hopefully much more on the cable side. G'luck.
  • That last shot ....with the camera in the jumpers hand....it really catched the moment.....over the top ...good short. ;->
  • very exhilerating..i got an adrenaline rush just watching it...LOVED IT and gave it a GREENLIGHT.....

  • because it has a low green to views ratios, it shows that our attention spans are too quick. Also, while the footage is undeniably awesome, I would hate to give support of film makers who risk their lives solely for monetary reward.
  • Top Notch! Stunning. Someone said the gold standard and I agree wholeheartedly. Everything about it is perfect.

The camera work is fantastic, and poetic. The fish eye is cool. At one point it reminded me of shots from space with the astronauts. Love the backwards facing camera on the helmet cam (I think that's what it was) And especially love the last shot with his arm linked into the cameraman's and by virtue of that the viewer's as well.

I jumped out of a plan once... but this looks 1000 times scarier than that.

  • I was totally gripped! You are braver souls than I!
  • Oh my! It's really good! I enjoyed a lot... although, I agree witha prior comment, that it would be better if it was a little bit shorter... but it was spectacular.

    Greenlight from me too...

But, if this is supposed the already screened on TV... shouldn't have disabled the Greenlight Option or something?

  • You guys are nuts. Love it.
  • Congrats on seeing a good project get its hard earned dues.
  • I read about this piece in a magazine and after seeing for myself I'd say it's one of the best pieces on Current (my opinion). Watching it you can tell a lot of work went into pre-production to get all the b-roll angles in freefall. I wished we had found out what the "Jumper Jeremiah", did for a living and that there had been more lights on inside the house. Great piece Mark, I'm off to watch your other submissions...

  • Another good film. These guys are so obsessed, I´ll be nice to see what they think of the fatalities of their fellow base jumpers.
  • I think they are all idiots......

  • I think they are the only people who live their lives to the full. Doing stuff like this <b>IF YOU HAVE GOT THE BALLS</b> is the best thing you can ever do & people who devote their lives to doing it are the best people who ever lived. Pointless green light from me anyway. <a href=" http://uk.current.com/watch/32456165?list=newVidsByProd... me too</a>...

No, you are an Idiot with your stupid mundane "life" Boomerkc.
