"We Remember" is a short film about how music and genocide commemoration are linked. As second and third generation survivors feel the impact of the Armenian Genocide, they commemorate the 1.5 million people who lost their lives by shedding light on this injustice through commemoration events and music for the public to be aware of, acknowledge, and appreciate.

Music is an essential outlet to express the truth, to bring peace to injustice, and to educate in order to prevent such inhuman acts from repeating.

  • What's important is that commemorations like this exist and will continue to exist as long as people support them. The focus of the film had more to do with the creative commemorations and why they exist and what is appealing is how many creative people came out to support their people.

Not many people mention the events in June 2000 in NYC on Puerto Rican Day when a number of women were attacked, or the countless fights or difficulties of any public event and isn't it such that the celebrations still continue....? "We Remember" is a layered film which hopes to send out a positive message to all people. I support this positivity.

  • .Congratulation Adrineh!
Great job! Your film definitely must go to TV. And don't worry about not showing the fights, drag racing or screaming and yelling. None of those were happening during the march and, besides that, you are trying to make a point to recognize the GENOCIDE, not making a film about the community.

  • Good job Tamar et al. This is an important discussion for humanity. The problem of genocide has not gone away, look at Darfur today.

  • Wonderful work. I like how you fused music with how humanity deals with issues. Beautiful notion because everybody relates to music and the messages it sends. I will do my best to help it air on tv. It should be on there!!!

  • Not sure what idiot work means when he refers to the drag racing and showing off? That must be a southern Cal thing, as I have never seen such blatant displays at a NY or Philadelphia commemoration.

    Good job Adrineh.

  • Thank you all for the wonderful comments! I must extend them to all the people who helped make this possible. First of all, Tamar S. who put in tireless hours and her insurmountable artistic touch. Karineh G. who is well qualified to replace Oprah (not financially, but in heart and mind). Ara O. and Andy B. who graciously allowed to use their breathtaking photography. Ohannes S. who also graciously allowed us to use his awe-inspiring music. AND, all the musicians and concert goers who gave us their time and insight.

  • An important event that isn't studied or remembered enough. I enjoyed it enough to sign up and then vote for it.
  • Great work, Adrineh!

I am Greek and my people feel for and empathize with the Armenians.

    Turkey lives in denial.

Turkey behaves like Germany in 1945.

Turkey must recognize the Armenian Genocide as well as all the other crimes against humanity that it has perpetrated over the past 100 years against Greeks, Assyrians, Arabs, Greek- and Turkish-Cypriots as well as Kurds.

The Turkish people are not our enemy, but they have to open their eyes and learn the truth.
