They arrested the wrong people! It should be a crime to tell people that condoms don't stop HIV. Great video.
-
This video transports the viewer into the soul of a demonstration, effectively making us feel like participants in, not witnesses to, civil disobedience. Bravo!
-
Way to go. This is a critical issues and really important film!

powerful. needs to be shown.

The truth deserves to be known and seen. The Bush administration is unwilling give the American people the protection and respect we deserve by talking about condoms and our sexual protection options. Our children need not grow up in a world where talking about sex is a crime!
-
I thought this was a great film! thanks for doing it. it reminds us, even as we celebrate another World AIDS day, just how much is left to be done.
-
A vivid example of willful ignorance fueled by narrow-minded thinking and morality brainwashing of America. More of us need to be willing and ready to resist the seemingly hypotic daze and rhetoric of these people and institutions that consistently try to force inane (and insane) policies and beliefs to the general public.

Very moving! I think your message of learning the truth and being properly educated needs to be told! Thank you for your insight.

I was one of the protestors and felt compelled to take this action due to the gravity of the current situation of healthcare in our country today - I pray I do not have to take such action again come this time next year. The FRC (Family Research Council) does not represent the vast majority of any "family" I have seen; their so called "research" is NOT backed by real science; and their so called "council" is driven by the political machine that is quite simply killing 8500 people a day with HIV/AIDS in our nation each and every day, in part, by destroying the needed message of true prevention efforts. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
-
I found this rather humorous. On one side the message "abstinence doesn't work" comes through loud and clear. One of the protestors even mentions statistics that show that Virginity Pledges and claims of abstinence lead to more unprotected sex, anal sex, and STDs. So this begs the question: Do viginity pledges not work, or do people just not go through with what they have committed to? Do people who take a "virginity pledge" merely pay it lip service and still go through with sexual behavior (in any form - oral, anal, whatever), or does the statistics merely reflect those who didn't stick with their commitment - to the exclusion of those who have? Do those who truly, 100% follow their "virginity pledges" face the increased risk of STDs? Do those who 100% have sex (in any form) with only one person in their entire lifetimes (and that person does the same) have to face the problems of STDs? Or does all of this only apply to those who wish to have sex wth multiple partners over their lifetimes?

I was one of the protesters. I felt that i had to do it. To be a single black women with two teenagers that i love with all my heartand and keep job. it is very hard.Iwant my children to have opions. To even think that there are places like FRC is an outrage.I want my children to engage in all thing in there lives safety from the smoke dectors to sex. Get with the times!

very fascinating! i was wearing the condom costume and knew Dean was filming but had no idea what he was going to do with the footage. really liked the use of the demonstrators, chants, interviews, and text edited in with the civil disobedience participants. gave me a view i would never have seen otherwise. great editing although the one break is just a tad longer than i would like. i also couldn't see what was in the window shot.
guess this also disproves the FRC saying violent AIDS activists were there!in a quick short answer to some of "leeagraff's" questions:
whatever the # of people who actually follow their virginity pledge or abstain from sex before marraige - the reality is that most do not. the real problem is that they are not informed or equipped and at worst are misinformed about the real truthful facts. this has had an effect of an increase in higher risk behavior.
and of course - those who do not abstain are disregarded tossed away and left with mumblings of "that's unfortunate" for any question, problem, or STD/I by someone who supposedly is concerned about the health and welfare of humanity.
(i apologize for getting off topic but felt the questions were valid and warrented a wee bit of an answer) -
Greenlight Dean.. bet that got the ole heart pounding, eh? :-)

Another amazing piece by Dean. I admire your videos because they always have something important to say. It is powerful and well-edited. This should be aired on Current TV NOW!
Keep up the inspiring work!-

This piece should be on TV. It shows both sides of the issue and it's fascinating to watch. The interview with the woman who supports abstinence only is the best thing I've seen yet on Current.
-
Let's see if Current is as "current" as it claims and airs this. The story needs to be told. Over 8000 people a day are still dying from AIDS needlessly. Why is this allowed to go on?

This shows the amazing differences in perception that surround us. Each person is so firm in their convictions. This is a really exciting new medium here! It looks immediate and not-staged.
-
Thanks for your support everyone! I was just informed by Current that this piece will be aired, so it's clear that they are willing to play "current", and even controversial, videos. Peace out. - Dean

This was an amazing piece, congratulations to everyone involved.
