  • Nice work. I would have liked to have seen a family unit (mom & dad with children). Where are the parents and why are they not teaching values to their children. We have just one tribe in Vermont and it is still fighting for recognition. This is another race of people that have been left behind. Some of the problem appears to be that on one hand they do not want to introduce the children to the nasty bad habits of the American Capitalistic Society BUT they want to be able to run casinos and keep all the money for themselves. The whole treatment of the American Indian is shameful. It looks like both Democrats and Republicans have done their part to rob the Indians blind.
Keep up the good work, tell us some more ....

  • I liked the piece, and living in Santa Rosa, I remember the story from Lake County, and there was alot of local news about the casino up in Clear Lake, also I know people that work at River Rock and it is not all that the story make's it sound like, but on the other hand I grew up at Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side and gambling will always be a bit corrupt, yet I gamble and have made money at it. I also support Indian Gambling in Calif. Lynn

  • Well done, and good story - there's still a lot more here. With all of the Abramoff scandals in the news right now, there is suddenly potential interest in hearing more info from the Indian point of view. Their side of the story has been largely ingored in the major news outlets. The dark side of Indian gaming, along with the benefits, could be explored into a feature length production, I'm sure. Consequently, would be great to see more here. Cudos.
  • Great story.
  • Being apart of the fort peck reservation in Montana i feel for natives that have let the money that comes from their casinos, get in between them and their own people. But our forefathers knew from the beginning that money would do us no good. Money is sickness, Greed is a disease.. Anyways this was a very good film and i wish we could show it to every native american in every tribe recognized or not! Much love, Youpee

  • I like the pod, I wish that there would have been a third component focusing on what life is like without casino revenue. Tribes that do benefit from casino money are the minorty. The majority of native american tribes face bleak futures and third world country living conditions, and many other social problems. I'd love to see a pod focused on this.

  • Great pod! Really well shot, and the story unfolds nicely. The pod has some really good reporting, and some great characters. It was interesting to see both success stories, and the unfortunate fallout of things gone wrong. Casinos present some really interesting questions and dilemmas for both the state and tribes to deal with. Thanks for presenting this issue, and so may of its sides.
