In Paris, you have to pay to be heard as a musician.
Some concert halls try to change things, and stand aside bands.
Let's hear it.

Bien fait.
I don't know if the community will really have the collective patience to watch a 7 minute doc in French but I dig the piece's spirit anyway. It's a friggin shame that music and economics have to coexist like they do.
The piece had a nice natural breathability which, sadly, probably translates to "too long" on Current. And what's probably more of a shame is that even if the subject requires it and no matter how cool of a project, doing a foreign language piece always comes across as pretentious. Now you may in fact be French, but the credits and titling sort of read like a student film from a semester abroad. Malheureusement, c'est la vie.
But screw all that stuff, I liked it and think having a Pod like this would add a nice texture to the Current lineup. Nice work. -
Great documentry !
I truely enjoyed your work Jeremy, your project is very nicely executed.
The interviews are interactive and fluid, you have real talent pal !
let's face it the music industry is collapsing, and it's cool to see small bands getting a LIVE shot at it. Paris is the heart of European culture, many talented bands and artist still waiting to be heard.
Voila, keep up the great shots and let's hope your work gets broadcast. 7mins is nothing unless its a comercial add or a homemade wedding video.

Hi,
I was very pleased to watch that video. It deals with a very important issue: how to promote music artists in trouble times (P2P...). If their rights are not respected in the Internet and if they should pay to play I don't see how new artists will see the light in France. I hope that this documentary will have further develpments abroad so we can compare what is done to promote new music in other countries.
Don't stop the fight, we need other bands than boys bands in our favorite radio stations!! -
Very Nice !
I didn't know anything about promoting artists, I'll go to sleep less stupid tonight :p
I actually think there should be more foreign languages over here :p French Power !
Mollusk -
I think it is very nicely done, the pictures and sound are both very nice, and I did learn something !

Very interesting theme, and so revealing of the current French music industry struggle to find new talents and new sounds. It was a great idea to give to those bands a free arena to express their feelings and fears towards the future of their art.
The documentary is very well conducted and feels like a partition itself: rythms, harmony and dynamism!
Thank you for this great piece of work.-

I just love it. It was fascinating to learn about the music scene in France.
I will definitely watch it again. -
That´s a plan!
Thanks Jeremy for this greta overview and congratulation for the quality of your work! I´m really impressed!
Oh, I was about to forget, the music is just perfect for your documentary!!! -
Excellent work on this documentary Jeremy. The subject matter was fascinating and really quite eye-opening. The production value and quality of this piece had a very professional feel as well. I must admit I am surprised by the French inability to embrace rock 'n roll. To require a band to pay-to-play is certainly a foreign concept in the U.S. In a world of over-produced pop starlets and effeminate "boy bands", I'm pleased to see someone take up the cause of truly talented musicians. Bravo again and I look forward to more offerings.
-
Great job, Jeremy! Kudos to the director for a wonderful and insightful documentary. Music makes the world go around. Cheers!
-
Great music, very interesting subject, amazing work. It simply rocks! Thank you for offering us such an outstanding documentary! I look forward to seeing more!
-
Mr. Jochimek did an excellent job with this documentary! I look forward to seeing this type of documentary more often. Its very enlightening. Well done.
-
This is simply amazing! I loved this documentary, and I really hope to be able to see more of this quality on internet or TV real soon. Thansk to Jeremy Jochimek who made me aware of an existing problem in France in a beautiful and artistic fashion!!! Keep up the good work!
Love it!!!! -
Mr. Jochimek shows his unique cinematographic talent throughout this documentary. He was ale to communicate and educate while preserving the beauty of images.
Excellent job. Congratulations! -
Well thanks for this clip I'd like to see and hear more as I think there is much to be said on that topic.
Keep on the faith ! -
That's what I call Quality!. Mr. Jochimek has delivered us with a well balanced documentary. The subject is well presented, the ambiance looks preserved, and this piece of beauty really teases us as to when we'll enjoy his next production!
The style reminds me of that TV show that I once see on a channel called Arte while I was cruising through Europe: I think it was called "Tracks". Simple curiosity: does someone knows if Mr. Jochimek already had participated on Arte's production? Anyway, this is an very promising piece and I'm really eager to see more of his excellent work! -
Hi everyone !
I am Jeremy Jochimek, thanks to all of you, for you support, your critics some times and your kind words.
Mr. P, I know very well this show "Tracks" wich is you're right broadcasted on Arte. I have never worked there, but I would really like to. So maybe I'll send them copies of some other pieces I did.
If you have the occasion, I would encourage all of you to watch a truly rock show wich is called "Taratata" broadcasted in France on "France 2" and " France 4"(TNT)
It is one of the last shows that still makes groups and artists play LIVE during the show ! And they have really fantastic artists.
Forgive me for asking more of your support, and thanks again, to you and to Current TV also ! Please feel free to ask any questions, it will be my pleasure to answer.-

Great job Jerem, your video is one of the few here that I've seen on this website that has many of the same elements in direction, editing and scope you would find on an award winning documentry. Keep up the great work and keep striving for your dreams, you are very talented and obviously do not mind working hard to reach your goals, truly admirable and I can only wait with anticipation for your next project!

Was introduced to this site by a co-worker. Found this doucmentary fascinating and informative. Left me wondering if artists in my own country (America) have to endure like treatment. Great job.
-
way too long. Make it 5 or 6 and I think it will play better. The band at the end just goes on too long. I like it though. Good piece. I really hope to see more international stuff.
-
But you did get my green light!
-
More international stuff please! Independent artist have it hard support this piece let their story be told! "GL"

Interesting. Why did you use an RER map at the beginning? This isn't about musicians in the Paris subway. Also, the sound quality is poor - I can hear a lot of fuzz in the background. Please buy a better microphone.
-
Hi everyone and thank you for your support!
I apologize for not answering any sooner, I had a lot of work :)
Springer : Thank you very much for you constructive critic and for yout support too!
About the lenght I agree completely, and I am working on a new version, shorter, better paced. However I have a lot of work right now as first Assistant Director on a long and twho short movies.
So I will try to update this video as soon as possible, wich unfortunately is nowhere close to soon...
Andrewpmk thanks for your comment. I'll answer your questions :
So you seem to know about the RER, then you might know that it is used to communicate between Paris and the sub urbs.
Now you may have noticed that the title of the video is also "Le Plan" wich is the name of the concert hall we talk aout in this piece. (located in Ris Orangis, Paris sub urbs)
In paris not a lot of people are willing to go out of the city into the suburbs, espescially after the riots.
With the RER map, I wanted to show the way from the center of Paris, to "Ris Orangis" where the concert hall is located. Because this piece is also about going out of your neighbourhood, to support artists and quality.
Now about the microphone : I agree that the sound quality isn't very good and I apologize for it (should I ?), but I did this piece for free, with very little hardware and in very little time too.
I would also add that I am not at your service and I didn't get one buck with this piece.
Now if I get paid for it, and the people who pay me think that I should get a new microphone, I will definitley do it.
So if you like my work, and would like to see more of it, with a better sound, you might consider getting one for me cause I won't.
Still I hope that despite the sound quality, you enjoyed the piece and that you will support more international pieces on current tv !
To everyone : Thanks for your support and for your critics !
