A protest in Chinatown, LA against the skinning of animals alive for the fur trade, specifically cats and dogs. An international day of protest was held and we were there to capture the mayhem of protestors and anti-protestors. *** Greenlight it if you like it and think the word should get out! -- Music: Woven (wovenmusic.com) & Celeste Lear (celestelear.com) -- *** For more from Airfox: www.theadamtaylor.com

Hey man, I was just thinking you should add some clips from peta's undercover footage. I don't know what their policies are but just credit them and you'll be fine I'm sure.

We could learn alot about the cruelty to animals if we would just put down our ipods or turn off our Xbox for a moment.....
The people of Sioux Nation could teach the Chinese a thing or two about living off the animal....Not just the fur for trade, but the whole animal....meat, bones, etc. It was considered a blessing to have caught a bison....They considered themselves brothers and these brothers would see each other again at the Council of the people!
I'm pretty sure the Chinese have no clue what I'm refering to.....And that is a shame!-

The funny thing is, the folks in power aren't listening to us or iPods. They be kickin it amongst sweeping acres and dinner parties. Most of the mainstream media is doing a major disservice. Seems like Current could rattle them cages...

Nice work A.T. Keep it up my friend!

That is such a terrible and in-humane thing thats going on in China. But, Theres so much more Important things to be protesting about that go on in our backyards, in America.
-
Thanx missjess for the note. In response- The furs are illegally being imported into this country and nothing is being done. We'll certainly be hitting up many domestic issues, as there are sooo many to choose from.
-
Great work A.T.! I can't believe more people aren't outraged.Thank you for covering something that needs FAR more awareness. Seeing as how the 'conventional networks' do not find this newsworthy...you are to be commended. The PETA suggestion by another poster was quite smart. I bet PETA would love to be a part of your piece. Thanks again!
-
To Missyjess...We have many animal/human rights in place in America because of all the hard work of activists/passionate citizens in this country. And the freedom we have to protest. We've come so far. And we have much more to give. Much more to teach. We should always extend ourselves to our neighbors when in need. A man-made border should not eliminate one from the other when it comes to the rights of suffering. We should always try to go where the need is the greatest. Not shut our doors. That's how Rwanda happened. And Darfur. Etc. We have enough for everyone. I am deeply devoted to the equal and humane rights of both animal and man. All of them. Not just those who were fortunate to have been born into a lucky geographical spot. I would like to believe we are strong enough and passionate enough to have voices for all who suffer in the face of ignorance or commerce. I was quite moved they were speaking for those who have no voice and bringing awareness. My hope is that we can all think outside of the borders. I say this with great respect.
-
Way to go ....good job. More people need to be made aware of what goes on!
-
mcginnes you rock... keep up the good work.

Greenlight. I think the last statement summed it all up:
"85% of the world's fur comes from China where they're skinned alive for fashion."
So who is really to blame for the treatment towards these cats and dogs? China or fashion consumers who continue to buy genuine fur goods?
Somebody should make a piece about animals scalping humans for "hair coats." -
Excellent!

Thank you so much for posting this issue here - together we can make a change for these animals who are kept in the most horrid conditions - handled with the most cruel of hands, skinned quite often while still alive - all in the name of fashion and vantity - certainly, GREED !

Of course this must be greenlight GO!!
This practice is so horrific, so barbaric, so unbelievably cruel that I cannot understand why it is allowed to continue.
To know what happens is enough to make you feel very ashamed of the human race, but to know that it is for 'fashion' ?????
This must STOP as quickly as possible, this cruelty is like something out of a horror movie, only it isn't a movie, it's for REAL. We cannot stand aside and ignore the fur trade, this affects the whole world, we are losing our compassion, this devalues us all, please get this film footage aired.
Every day innocent animals are being destroyed for their coats, STOP the industry, please DON'T buy fur.
We have a voice and we can use it!! Stop this NOW!!

greenlight definitely!!!! thank you so much for doing this. you guys are truly awesone. there's nothing more respectable than speaking for the helpless ones who couldn't speak for themselves and there is nothing more sweet than giving unconditional love for the animals. bless you all. this is the worst animal tortures i have ever, ever witnessed. animals are animals. it doesn't matter where they are, we have to do our best to help them. i saw a comment from someone who said we should take care of what's in our backyard first...i think that's bullshit. selfish people usually think like that. their problem, even tiny, is always more important than others, even when others is so unimaginable and horiffic. this type of thinking always get me mad.please do it asap!!!! as each day goes by, thousands of animals will be skinned alive by those monsters who i hope, will suffer in hell eternally for what they have done. bless you all and may the force be with us in achieving our goal to stop this cruelty.
-
Someone below suggested viewing some scenes - the codes for the movies are too large but I have made a slide show to detail just a bit of what is happening to these animals in China, there are links to all the films taken on our page - For Further Information on this subject go to link ...
To hear the song I AM THE OWNER OF THIS COAT written and sung by Maria Dains for this cause and to see the slide show with the song - please visit link -
Love this piece. There really is no opposing argument that can be made when it comes to skinning any animal alive. Well done, this piece gets the greenlight.
This issue does deserve more attention and justifies peacful protests such as this one. I just hope you're not PETA supporters. Thery kill animals too, and they're C-R-A-Z-Y.

really good. felt like i was there.

Thank you for doing this! I hope it gets onto television. I live in NYC and it is disgusting how fur has made such a huge comeback in the fashion world. Everyone seems to have forgotten how horrible the fur industry is. Keep up the good work!

That is cruel. Let's air it and make more noise about it. World will change anyway I believe but talking about cruelity is one way of helping the change to happen faster.
Good job. -
Hope this hits the air. Good work. Great message. I love it.

Great, important work. It's nice to see the top of the leaderboard is occupied by pods telling stories of inhumanity and injustice - that's why Current is here. Keep telling the stories and maybe, just maybe, people will be moved to change.
This is absolutely horrendous - the animal torture, not the pod.
Greenlight.

All change BEGINS with AWARENESS- so good work- I think this pod is cohesive enough to be a part of the wakeup call...

Stop slaying animals, kill PETA activitst instead.
-
side note:
PETA is a hyppocrite 100% irrational capitalist organisation that kills more animals than it saves. -
Down with PETA save the animals!! "GL"
-
I think the word should be spread about this .
-
important topic, hope to see it on air soon!
-
Important topic- glad this is getting attention. Corporations do pay atention when it affects their "bottom line", for example J Crew has agreed to not sell fur due to protests from PETA- among other groups.

While it does shed light on an important issue, it's not journalism at all. The video is simply a mouthpiece of their specific protest and doesn't explain the issues anymore than it does stick a microphone in the face of the organizer. I'm not denying that it the practice exists. Instead, I'm saying that the message would be far more legitimate if the producer did some actual journalism on the subject instead of just showing up at a protest and flailing a microphone around.
-
that's just what we did. last second set-up and shoot. just me (a.t.) and camera/sound (vinny) showed up last minute and captured who/what was there. no planning, just captured what was already there. folks tired of these practices and hittin the streets. there wasn't really anything else there to flail a mic at. like I said, go to furkills.org if you want more info...
-
BIG GREEN LIGHT!
-
At 3:50, I don't belive this will ever air. I also agree, this is not jounalistic.
A better message could be sent out with some editing, sound bites and a good voice over.
This is too important of an issue though, keep working it. -
I think it is very cruel to kill animals for the use of their fur especially inhumanly.
